PS4 specs detailed, has 500 GB HDD, camera not bundled

Sony has released details of the PlayStation’s 4 which comes in a "Jet Black" colour and will start with the launch model "CUH-1000A".

According to the press release, the console’s body has been engineered to be slim and light, with the body being divided into four sections, with buttons and disc slot between the four blocks. The power indicator glows blue when on, and the sides of the console are slanted to allow easy access, while also concealing cables.

We already know the price, however what we didn't know is that the system will include a 500GB HDD as standard. Sony says there are 110 games in the works, 30 of which are in the works at 12 first-party studios. Of these titles, 20 will be released in the first year of launch.

see considering the xbox comes with the kinect for £429 and this doesnt come with the eye at £349 u cant really say there is much in price for people who want the pseye can u really!

You can argue that. But then you could also argue that PS4 is a more powerful machine than the One with no DRM and no online requirements. That's a big plus for a lot of people. The point is, you don't need to buy the camera. A lot of people where stung by Kinect before. I don't think people want it as much as MS think they do.

I would still like to know why the UK always get stung. $399 = £257, so why do we have to pay £100 more then the US?

100% agree with you Shep. If you add in the optional pseye and a ps move, then the system will cost the same. Commentators are not stressing this clever move by Sony. In the long term, this is where I see developers benefiting from the guarantee that all xbox ones will have a camera/voice commands but ps4 will not. I still would like both of them.

But it's about choice, no? I don't have any interest in PSeye... so it suits me that I don't have to pay for it if I don't want it.

Agree with samka also. Not interested in gimmicky peripherals, I just want to play some great games. Plus, no wide-spread camera usage means more games compatible with being played on the Vita -)

usa price does not include sales tax. so usa peeps will be paying about $440 with 10% tax. so usa price + uk vat (20%) is $480=£308 so only £42 more for us. its not as much as you think

Exactly tomqman. And the PSEye has been priced at £80? I'm sure it has only been priced at $59. So it would still be about £40 off.

These are optional stuff anyways. Don't want PS eye. Not gonna pay for it. Don't online game much...this works both ways. Because I sure aint paying a subscription for 3 months if I only wanna play for a month or so.

What a lot of people are missing here is that the 360 did a similar thing and it worked wonders. Microsoft left a lot of out the box to keep ther price low (wireless adaptor etc). If you added up all the stuff separately that the PS3 included the price difference wasn't so big between the two but most people didn't seem to realise that. It was a smart move for Sony to drop Move from the bundle and make it cheaper, especially since its not needed for all games. Will the combined price be similar to the One? Very likely, but the fact is people have a choice. Add that to the yes to used games policy, no online check up and free Drive Club for Plus members at launch I don't see how Microsoft can complete. I loved my 360 at the beginning of last gen, but Microsoft are making the same mistakes Sony did last time.

Exactly Aimee, I think to get my wireless adapter, second controller, xbox live etc, it had added a good amount on to my console price.

Sony have done a fabulous job. Unlike MS, Sony are not forcing people to buy a stupid camera if they don't want it. Unlike MS, Sony are not forcing DRM on people. Unlike MS, Sony are launching at a realistic price. Oh, and PS4 is more powerful, too. Sony get my money.

I'm not sure but can anyone confirm that the Xbox One has a Digital Out?

That's the only killer about the Wii U in my eyes, that I can't use my Turtle Beach PX5 headset
