Need for Speed: Rivals aiming for next-gen launch

EA has revealed that they hope to release a next-generation of Need for Speed: Rivals available for PS4 and Xbox One on the day of the consoles' respective launches.

Speaking to Joystiq, lead designer James Mouat said that Ghost Games want the title "to be out on launch" for Microsoft and Sony's next-generation boxes.

The game will release for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this November. It's being developed by franchise newcomers Ghost Games, with Criterion chipping in with 'additional work'.

You can see some gameplay from E3 below.

I don't know if I'm ready to be burnt by NFS again.

Is this one made by Criterion or just EA this time?

Out of all the E3 driving games, NFS was the least impressive for me. Drive Club'll have my racing needs, and then The Crew when it is about.

They've not really said what Criterion will be involved with, but the franchise has pretty much been handed down to them - They get to choose which games launch (to avoid flops like The Run). If they're doing any actual work on the game, my guess would be multiplayer or open world stuff.
