PS3 firmware fix next week

Sony has revealed that it'll release a fix for the broken PS3 firmware (4.45) next week.

Some users had experienced problems when installing the firmware, although Sony told Videogamer that it has 'identified the problem' and will issue a firmware to fix this soon.

According to Sony only “a small number of PS3 systems” have been affected by the problem, so don't worry too much if you've installed it recently and if you haven't then it's probably best to wait until next week just to be on the safe side.

When it comes to bad patches no system is innocent. Guarantee we'll see a dud patch on every next-gen machine sooner or later

A small number? seems like thousands all over the world by a quick Google search. I just got the last of us and can't use my PS Plus items. Not even issuing a temporary solution without being compensated is unacceptable i just hope it has not corrupted my system as i have loyally spent thousands on downloads since day one. I didn't break it so why do i have to wait? I'm working from Sunday so that's useless and guess I'll be calling customer service because I'd like to know what they mean by don't worry too much. If anyone knows a fix I'd be chuffed if you could reply to me. What a cock up.

From what I heard it was just people who had installed their own hard-drive.

If you can't find a fix from a quick google search then there is not fix yet. Btw what happened with it? My PS+ downloaded it the moment it came out and i'm fine

What's funny is it was supposed to allow users to select whether or not they want an in-game notification when a trophy is earned, Like many of other patch's on the PS3 this is caused by using your own hard drive, But don't worry PS4 you can use your own drive again! so let's hope when sony get round to adding cross chat chat (7 years late) all them PS4 system's don't brick, Still a lot of PS4 user will not be using the internet so it's all cool, Can't wait to see the NEW UI and OS on the PS4 must be great as they have yet to show any of it.... no games running on it....... All talk :)

It's preventing XMB access on SOME PS3s that have home installed HDDs over 500Gb in size. It's not mandatory to install it, so just ignore the download that your PSPlus grabbed and all will be fine mate.

Definitely not a fanboy, Eh Type?

What the bloody hell are you talking about type? until recently, I had a hard drive upgrade in my machine and it worked perfectly with every patch. My previous ps3 did too, with no issues whatsoever it still works as a matter of fact. The UI has been shown off plenty in the last few days too, a quick google search will bring it up. Sorry, was it playstation that had to do a 180 on all its policies for fear of not selling a single fucking console? Get your facts straight then come back. Douche bag.

I love it when someone with a Halo picture, starts blasting Sony, or praising M$, it really cracks me up.

I love it when people refer to MS as M$, so original and mature.

I wonder if this will solve the sudden freezing I get infrequently on my console. I hope my PS3 isn't bricking it :( this is the second one and its only a year old. 160gb slim
