No headset for Xbox One, but don't worry - Kinect is included *update*

Even though an official headset is not included with the Xbox One, it seems that Microsoft may have a solution for those wanting to use their old Xbox 360 headset.

According to Micrsoft's Xbox Support on Twitter, the company is "working to develop an adapter for current wired headsets to connect." More details are expected closer to launch.

Good news for all of those who splashed out on a more expensive headset.

Xbox Live is certainly a chattier place than PSN and that's no doubt due to the fact that the Xbox 360 includes a headset in every box. Don't expect the same in Xbox One.

As previously stated at the Xbox One announce, the new console does not come with a headset, but don't worry - Kinect is included.

"Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory," said a Microsoft rep in a statement to Ars Technica. "Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array [of] microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences.

"For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire."

Xbox 360 headsets are entirely incompatible with the Xbox One controller, so if you like a headset with your gaming then you are going to have to buy a new one.

Interestingly the PS4 does come with a headset.

What is the benefit of getting an Xbox????????????????? Costs more Still uses batteries for controller Halo isn't what it used to be Gears sucks They don't seem to understand the core concept of gaming I don't want kinect They have now taken the headset away when it was a standard product with the 360. Seems like they are asking for more money for less They have a few good exclusives: Ryse I think PS4 is the only real option

Wouldn't bother me if I was getting one, most people online are raging hormonal dick heads who I don't want to talk to.

Thing is, this sort of stuff happened with the 360. They gave you an inferior option, and if you wanted to improve it, you had to pay. Don't like batterys? Oh this charger is available, at a cost. Don't like wired internet? Oh this wireless adapter is available, at a BIG cost.

What if the console 'red rings' after warranty, you have to buy a new one and another kinect.

That's why you get extended warranty :) Also, if you have a headset plugged in, does that mean people will hear me twice? through the headset microphone and Kinect? bit dumb if it does.

Kinect have a mic... I can see it now: You playing Halo 666 and some idiot start playing Justin Bieber, while trying to talk with you.

Extended warranty expires then the machine breaks, everyone knows that's how it goes Whitey. And Kinect supported game chat would cause everyone to disable voice commands as you would get all the trolls shouting "Xbox Go Home" at each other while playing Call of Doody

I dislike the idea of Kinect voice chat as much as the next man, but it can't be abused in the way that people are suggesting, as it identifies you by your appearance and only responds to commands issued by you, the player. Presumably it is actually clever enough to respond to commands from multiple players should you be playing split screen too. I guess if in a party chat though, in-game voice commands would need to be disabled anyway, headset or no headset.

My suggestion was less a suggestion and more a joke.

It doesn't matter how clever Kinect voice thinks it is. Just like everything that uses voice commands it picks up background noise, and sometimes the background noise sounds enough like a command that it should recognise and will perform the action. Happens with current Kinect, Tom Clancy games, Siri, most Sat Navs.

Is it strange that i just randomly found a Xbox 360 headset (still packaged) in the attic and then came across this article?

Yous can turn off the kinect so if you had the headset you wouldnt be hearing people twice. Makes sense they are making an adaptor someone would have eventually anyway.

Instead of making an adapter just to rob people of more money try should just make them compatible with the console.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
