Microsoft returning to Tokyo Games Show

Microsoft will once again attend this year's Tokyo Games Show, after missing out on the event last year.

There is currently no mention of a Japanese release date for the Xbox One, although it seems we can now be sure of hearing some sort of date, or at least get an idea of Microsoft's marketing strategy for the far east.

Xbox has struggled in Japan since the console launched in the region, with only 1.6 million Xbox 360 units sold in comparison to 12.6 million Wii units and 9.3 million PlayStation 3 units.

Can Microsoft crack Japan this time around? Only time will tell.

Nope. The Xbox brand simply carries no weight in Japan, and we already know that Microsoft haven't secured big exclusives that could actually make the new console successful in the region (Likes of FF, DQ, etc). They're probably only attending TGS as a formality to show off the few Japanese titles Xbone has coming (D4, Crimson Dragon).

They will want to get as much publicity as they can, although the XBOX One will launch in Japan later. PS4 will be the winner in Japan once again.

Microsoft major focus on US, the price of the Xbox One and well a lack of exclusive that will interested Japan is most likely dooming Xbox One to a 9 or 10 spot on sales chart in Japan.
