Rayman Legends won't use Smartglass as it's not 'responsive or popular enough'

Rayman Legends will not make sure of Microsoft's Smartglass tech as it isn't good enough or popular enough to replicate the experience of Wii U.

"It's not as responsive as we need," Ancel told Shacknews when quizzed on SmartGlass. "It's not very popular today."

It seems that the developer also struggled to get the Wii U to respond the way it wanted to, although that's now been resolved.

"To me, it's not very natural to play with the stylus. I think most of the kids now are more comfortable with tablets, they use their fingers," he said, adding that they had to do "some special developments to interpolate what the player is doing", in order to inputs on the Gamepad accurate enough.

Rayman Legends is out this September. You can pre-order below.

So, basically it won't be the same game then, and the reason for the delay of the Wii U version is invalidated.

They delayed the WiiU version because they wanted to have an install base of more than 17 people.

I thought it was because they wanted to launch it together with the other versions, which now aren't the same game, so they could have launched back in February when the Wii U had an install base of at least a couple of million, and people were desperate for games for it. Now the first party titles have started rolling out it's going to get lost, and the handful of people who moaned about it being Wii U exclusive will probably be too busy playing GTA V or SR4, or saving their money for a PS4/Xbone.

"Now the first party titles have started rolling out it's going to get lost" - Yeah, best brace for that flood of first party Wii U releases between now and Rayman's release... btw, I'm visualizing a piece of tumbleweed with a copy of Pikmin 3 attached rolling past right now.

There' Pikmin 3, then there's the physical release of Luigi U which a lot of people have held out for, then there's Pokemon Rumble which should do alright, everyone loves Pokemon, and although not first party, but is exclusive, there's Wonderful 101, all before Rayman hits. That's plenty for Wii U owners to buy before they worry about a multiplatform title by a company that shafted them.

Not everyone will buy them all. And so could get Rayman. And if they are set to buy them all, Rayman most probably si in their price range too.

Earthbound was released today so that should do well for itself

I'm getting Rayman Legends. Origins is fantastic and they are giving a ton of extra content in the game because it was delayed so. Although it's not high on my list of games what with a few other titles out around then that I care about more.
