Sony confirms pre-gamescom press conference

Sony has confirmed that it will hold a press conference ahead of this year’s gamescom 2013 on August 20 at 7pm CET / 6pm BST in Cologne.

We would imagine that Sony will be discussing PS4 a lot during this conference although we seem to remember Sony saying that Vita will be getting some attention too.

Are you excited for gamescom?

I totally expect Sony to stiff Europe with a 2014 release date... even before they announced the PS4 itself they were going on about "issues" with simultaneous worldwide launches. Funny how Microsoft and Nintendo never seem to have these same "issues" when they launch new machines.

No, they both have issues of their own resulting from their release approaches. Sony have already been advertising the PS4 in Europe for a 2013 release btw.

I think it's fairly obvious that we'll see a release date, but I don't expect any major announcements just a lot more information on things we already know about. I've seen on some forums some people expecting another big launch game to be announced, they are going to disappointed... Looking forward to it though, can't wait to see more of my next console purchase.

I don't expect there will be some new big AAA title info. I do hope/expect that they will further discuss these over 100 games to be released on the vita. If you look at the coming soon page here at Shopto there's only 15 titles (6 which are TBC). Yet no mention whatsoever of Muramasa Rebirth, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Toukiden etc (Toukiden is suppose to be out Q4 2013 in the West re US only I guess) for EU. Not to mention that apps and games the US has received on their PSN haven't been released in EU (one actually being a Sony published app Toro's Friend Network). They better announce something for Europe and preferably for the vita - because chances are we won't even see Gaikai until late 2014 if at all. A lot people have already started importing vita games from NA and Japan. This alone doesn't make the handheld very appealing if import is your main option to buy games
