Japanese Charts, July 22-28: Phoenix Wright guilty of being number one

This week's Japanese charts are in, showing Phoenix Wright as the number one title Japan, beating out Vanillaware's Dragon's Crown, which itself performs reasonably well on both PS3 and PS Vita.

The top five is almost full of new entries, with The Witch and the Hundred Knights also making an appearance at number four. Only Mario and Luigi stop the top five from being full of entirely new entries, but we doubt Nintendo are complaining much.

On the hardware side are fairly steady, while Vita sales are also fairly reasonable. There aren't too many sales to shout about all round though, which is to be expected for this time of year.

Check out the charts below.

Tell me why does everyone want Dragons Crown? I just don't see it. The Witch and the Hundred Knights is finally released, now all we need is a western release date

Because Dragon's Crown is made by Vanillaware, who make great games that look very pretty. Same reasons people look forward to games from the likes of Platinum and such for instance. Very interesting to note that the Vita version of Dragon's Crown wasn't too far off selling as much as the PS3 version, which is pretty insane considering the PS3 has an install base in Japan about ten times bigger than the Vita. Attach rate for Vita must be crazy good in Japan.
