Patent uncovered for Xbox One head mounted display

A new patent has been uncovered which suggests that Microsoft is planning to release a 'head mounted display' for Xbox One.

The patent, titled ‘Multiplayer gaming with head-mounted display’ was spotted by Engadget and combines facial recognition with eye-tracking, depth analysis and voice recognition.

Apparently the idea is to be able to use voice commands in place of menus, while the glasses will also automatically identify other Xbox players and allow them to accept invites via voice.

It makes you wonder why Microsoft are bothering, since it already has Kinect One, which will no doubt provide similar functions. We'll see if any of these ideas ever come to fruition.

What on earth are Microsoft thinking? I want a games console, not a bloody high-tech futuristic robot that does everything for me.

They can't seriously be considering their own version of the Oculus Rift rather than just allowing Oculus support on Xbone can they? That won't end well.

Didn't Oculus VR say they are not interested in support for consoles?

Also I'm guessing it's going to be more like Google Glass than the Oculus
