Xbox One to include headset and 4K HDMI cable

Microsoft will include an Xbox One chat headset and a 4K-rated HDMI cable in the box according to a new unboxing video published by Microsoft.

Apparently the included HDMI cable is rated for 1080p, 3D and 4K output, while the Xbox One chat headset weighs 44 grams and features a bendable, rotating mic boom. The headset's speaker and microphone have also been upgraded to take advantage of Xbox One's improved audio quality.

Other details in the video include confirmation of the included 500GB hard drive, slot load Blu-ray drive, IR blaster port, HDMI input and output connectors, as well as a S/PDIF interface, new Kinect sensor port, three USB 3.0 Super Speed ports, Wired and Wireless network support and a Kensington Security Slot.

Finally it's also been revealed that the built-in wireless on Xbox One is A/B/G/N, but supports dual-band 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies.

Check out the video below.

Is there anything from E3 that remains constant with Microsoft?

Wasn't expecting a HDMI cable to be honest, especially not one capable of 4K. Well done Microsoft, you did something right, let's hope the price has not gone up.

Who has a 4K set, really?

It is becoming a bit of a joke now that they are not keeping to any of there original idea to be fair I had no idea why they were thinking of not putting a headset in the box to begin with.

We all might have a 4k set by the time the next next gen comes around hehe

It doesn't matter who has 4k. In 4 years time, quite a few people could have 4K.

Probably people who are buying PS4 and Xbox One on day one, rich buggers. Just watched the video, that guy kind of annoys me, and his face when he got the sticker out. What was so cool about the power button? basically same as on the slim 360

So they put in something that most people won't even use for 5-10 years? Seems legit

Well at least they added the headset, saves you £20, plus you don't have to have a 4k display to use the HDMI cable so it's still useful.

They will use it as it's capable with the 1080p TV. Then when they upgrade to 4k, they won't have to upgrade that. Legit.

Just watched the video. You give to give it to Larry, he sounds awfully enthusiastic about that On-Off switch

this is all well and good, but when will they give us a release date? (or have they and I'm just oblivious to everything).

Odds are that by the time everyone has A 4k set the X1 will have had a redesign

NIce to see them included. If you buy a stand alone blu ray player that doesnt even have an HDMI cable.

I think it would be hilarious if they shipped without the HDMI cable because then all the 12 year olds would get home from Tesco at 12:30 am start setting it up only to find it doesn't have the video lead and they can't play it. Therefore they have to go to school the next day instead of 'being sick' and playing xbox all day.

"Wasn't expecting a HDMI cable to be honest, especially not one capable of 4K. Well done Microsoft" The xbox one can only use HDMI so really well done for taken away the option to use VGA? they have no choice, plus its called HDMI 1.4, its an update over the 1.3 all of a few pennys *yawn* something that will be useful in about 6 years :/

I'm guessing if they made it just 1080p they'd have a backlash from people raging about what they'd do with 4K or 3D...

IGS underestimates the power of children screaming for a new xbox, and how easy it is to get hold of £500.

Also i much prefer that headset over the PS4 one at least they are both included though. I reckon the xbox one could launch the same day as the new call of duty.

Still not to impressed with the consoles look just looks bulky and bland to me even the kinect camera looks worse then then original kinect camera. I do like the controller though.

Unfortunately it still includes an Xbox One. And anyways the 4K is nothing special it was introduced into the HDMI standard with 1.4 which was released in 2009. So they are showing off that they've included a

This is brilliant news. Saves me £20 on launch which will now go towards getting an extra game! .. Roll on November, my money is on the 5th. I mean they just advertised COD Ghosts for Xbox One all over their official website for November 5th, be pretty daft to do this if the game was out and no console to play it on, mind you it happened before with the Xbox 360 and Condemned, hopefully not this time...... Anyway, sooner the better for me, chomping at the bit to get my hands on this next gen console!

lol at the size of the Kinect camera and power brick. The console itself is huge enough, but those two on top of that will make this machine a nightmare to properly set up around the average entertainment unit. Also notice the headset is the same cheapo rubbish they bundled with the 360... lame :/

But it's much better than that PS3 in-ear Bluetooth crap to be fair.

Guess it's a good thing the PS3 has much more than just in-ear mics available then :)

It's still too little too late, imho. Whilst all these U-Turns are welcomed, and will win over a few fans, it's not going to win back the majority of the ones Sony stole. Still, I look forward to being wrong. And as for the 4K cable, it makes sense. Yeah, it's a piece of technology that the majority have no use for atm, but if you examine the life of a console compared to the life of a TV, a lot of people will have 4K TVs long before the next gen (assuming there will be a next one after this gen) is even thought of.

Yeah I still use rechargeable batteries in my 360 controller, mainly because the play & charge kit broke and can't be bothered to get another one. I have a battery charger any ways, plus I have a wired controller that I use for PC

It is really easy to get hold of £500, anyone can walk into a money shop and walk out with that kind of money in about 20 minutes.

True, but they have that annoying habit of asking for it back
