Splinter Cell: Blacklist goes gold

Splinter Cell: Blacklist has gone gold ahead of its release later this month.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our team," senior producer Alex Parizeau told IGN.

“This is a huge accomplishment for Ubisoft Toronto and for the studios that collaborated with us on this ambitious project – Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Shanghai, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Pune. Splinter Cell Blacklist is the first project to go gold in our studio, and I can tell you the atmosphere here is electric.

“We brought together an amazing team from across the industry who went all in to deliver the biggest game in the series. I know I speak on behalf of the entire team when I say we can’t wait to get the game into the hands of our fans.”

We can't wait to see how this one comes together. You can find out for yourself by pre-ordering below.

Got gifted some play.com vouchers he other day, so I pre-ordered the ultimatum edition(or whatever it's called) from there. I'm actually quite excited. I love games with no kills/no alarms/stealth trophies. I'm a glutton for punishment and I do them all at the same time on the hardest difficulty! The more I read about this game, the better it looks.

Always good to hear when a game goes gold. I will give it a bash wehn it comes down in price, but it does look good from the trailers.

Had the SC Trilogy on my rental list for a fortnight hoping to play through them before blacklist comes out! But it seems BG don't have any copies to rent. Not played a SC game since the first one, would the trilogy be worth buying?

How you finding BG now Brooker my brother joined up with them as he was with love film and he said he got his first game then the took an age to send him anything else so cancelled his free trial just wondered if the service has slipped due to the extra volume they must of gained.

The trilogy would definitely be worth picking up if you can get it cheap TM, they are the best games in the series, went downhill after that.

I have no issues with boomerang. It seems most people's complaints are when they don't understand the system. I see so many people complaining when they don't get their top choice straight away, forgetting that the wait time is a guideline and that they ain't the only people on priority packages! If you want a guaranteed game every time, switch your settings to send anything. But if you're after something specific, you are gonna have to wait sometimes! I've not had a delivery in nearly a month, because of my set up.

Cheers Gloria, might just try to buy it then, it's like £12 on amazon

Definitely worth it at that price, especially if the online works, co-op in Chaos Theory was great, and Spies vs Mercs in Pandora Tomorrow too, wasted many an hour on that back in the day.

I think the only game I played in the series was Double Agent, great game

TM - The reason people complain though is that it was touted as the replacement for LoveFilm, but Lovefilm got the ones people wanted out to them straight away. People don't want to be spending cash on something that may not ever come. If you've not had a game in a month, I genuinely wouldn't want to be spending £15 on that.

That's the only thing stopping me from signing up with Boomerang, that and I've still got plenty of unfinished games need playing, maybe sign up with them in a month or two when there's a little lull.,

Thing is, I never got what I wanted from Lovefilm. I get exactly what I want from boomerang EVERYTIME, but I understand that if a game is popular, I might not get it day one. People complain regularly at boomerang because they ain't getting what they want the day after they send back another game without either looking at the projected wait time, or understanding what it means. You put a long wait game as your top game, and select top game only, logic states that you have a long wait! When it says 7-10 days, it's estimated. The amount of people moaning without understanding the system bugs me. You want a game the second you send one back, get a few in stock items in your list and set your queue to send any game. I see the point in not wanting to spend money if you ain't getting anything, but the fact is they have a finite amount of games, and not everyone can get what they want when they want it. Lovefilm had this exact same issue, so many people on here complained when Lovefilm didn't send them the game they wanted, but now they have left Lovefilm, suddenly they were a perfect company.

And it's more like 3 weeks since my last game, and the fact is, with their points system, that long a wait means I'll have enough points to get a free month next month, I ain't gonna complain when there isn't really anything I wanna play at the moment.

Fair enough Brooker sounds like my brother didnt understand the system the operate there. My brother keeps hinting I should set up my own rental service with my collection.

£5 over at Blockbuster, mind you it's click&collect so you have to live near one & they have to have it in stock

To be fair, if you had a list on lovefilm, you always got random games. but if you had just the one game on the list, you always got that game, quite on time too. I only don't use either as I like to own my games/not pay for internet access.

I'll rent games I want to play and I'll buy games I want to own (Most of the time)

Yeah, I had to do that with red dead redemption on Lovefilm when it was released, still took 10 days to get to me. I guess it's down to experience. I don't mind paying for priority and waiting a bit for older games. I'm yet to have a game not get to me on launch day if its in my queue though. I love boomerang, I have no issues with them, but I do understand that some wont have the best experience with em. Especially current newcomers who are in from Lovefilm not giving them a chance to play catch up from the influx of customers!

Then do some research on your games and you won't. I haven't bought a really bad game for years (Steam Bundles don't count)

I research all my games. But occasionally a crap one slips through. Whether its due to brand allegiance (door fighter) or its just not my kind of game, no matter the review scores (gta4) sometimes it just happens. And the odds of you getting a dog shit game increase the more games you buy! So to counteract that, I rent games, if they are great, I buy them, if not, I just send it back. Simples.

Yeah, you're not annoying me. I was just wondering what I'd done to make you act like a dick towards me! Apart from a select few, I don't buy games day one.

If going "gold" means what I think it means (finishing the game and printing the discs to send out to retailers) then why is this a big deal? It says it's their first game to go gold in the studio, what did they do with their other games? or is this a new developer? I thought it was the same team that done the other SC games.

It's Ubisoft Toronto's first EVER game so it's news worthy. It also looks like it's going to be the best SC game since Pandora Tomorrow.
