Microsoft confirms gamescom plans, has 'exciting news' to share

Microsoft has confirmed that Phil Spencer, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Studios will help kick off gamescom in the keynote at the opening ceremony on Aug. 21.

In addition, it's been announced that Xbox One titles including “Forza Motorsport 5,” “Dead Rising 3,” “Ryse: Son of Rome,” “Project Spark,” “Killer Instinct,” “Zoo Tycoon” and more will be present at the event.

"The Xbox team is excited to invite the public to the largest booth we’ve ever had at gamescom. More people than ever before will have the opportunity to play Xbox One games and the team will be welcoming them with open arms – giving away an Xbox One frequently at the booth all week long."

On the Tuesday Microsoft will also be hosting a Showcase event for media and community members to engage with the games and game makers and Microsoft says that it'll have "some exciting news" to share from this event.

What could this news be? Well Phil Spencer already said on the Major Nelson podcast that Microsoft "took the approach [with our] showcase that we want to showcase the developers and their games. So we’re going to have a really short stage presentation with some news. [We’ll be] talking about some unique exclusives coming to the platform, [and] we’re going to talk about Europe’s biggest franchise. We have some stuff.”

So it sounds like we'll be hearing more on FIFA 13 for Xbox One then, and possibly a few other unannounced titles.

We will of course keep you up to day on all that's happening at gamescom.

If its a new games announcement its got to be either a new crackdown or Fable game. With everyone back into playing crackdown seeing as its free for now it would be the prefect time to announce a third one, haven't all the free games so far got a sequel of some sorts coming out on the one.

They'll be including some more stickers. Really make the console attractive to the mass market.
