Disney Infinity cost $100 million to develop

The cost of developing Disney Infinity and its characters has been placed at around $100 Million.

That's according to The Wall Street Journal which cites 'people close to the 'people close to the company.'

Disney Infinity is developed by Avalanche Software and draws characters from Disney and Pixar properties. The game also include an innovative Toy Box mode that allows players to create their own adventures in a free-form sandbox world. Similar to Skylanders, the game allows players to purchase character models and place them on a portal, causing them to then appear in the game in their own adventure.

Disney Infinity is set for release on Aug. 18 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. You can pre-order below from ShopTo.

Makes sense seeing how they had to produce prototypes of all of the toys before finalising the designs which can't of been cheap

Isnt it out the 23rd here? Could be an interesting battle between this and Skylanders.

I'd like to see this do better than Skylanders Bindiana, having watch loads of developer interviews for it they all seem super enthusiastic about what they're doing. Skylanders however does not and seem to be thinking more about financial gain than having the games be fun for everyone.

This games development was an investment, they now have the technology, and they can do what ever they want with it.
