Activision confirms gamescom line-up

Activision has announced its line up for this year's gamescom,

Titles due to make an appearance include Call of Duty: Ghosts and Destiny which will both be featured in the Activision booth, located in Hall 7.1, while Skylanders Swap Force will be featured in Sony Computer Entertainment booth, located in 7.1 in the Koelnmesse GmbH Exhibition Centre in Cologne, Germany from 21st – 25th August, 2013.

“With the next-generation of consoles on the horizon, this is obviously an exciting time for gamers.” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “And there’s no better place to share the incredible slate of games we have coming than Gamescom, where our fans can get hands on with the games and really experience them. With Call of Duty: Ghosts, Destiny and Skylanders Swap Force on our slate, we think we're going to have some of the most talked about and anticipated games at the show."

The Activision booth will feature an interactive "Show Mode" experience that will display video and gameplay footage from Call of Duty: Ghosts, Destiny and Skylanders Swap Force in a panoramic 190° cinematic theatre experience.

One of the biggest games publishers on the planet and they only have 3 games.

Two of them are the biggest grossing games in the world and the other is by the developer of Halo. I think they don't need much else. Seems a good strategy to not worry about stuff that won't make you much money or it's working anyway.

Exactly Joe. Who needs a ton of franchises when the ones you do have are doing so well.

People probably said the same thing when Tony Hawks and Guitar Hero were still going strong, and look what happened there.

Guitar Hero and Tony Hawks were niche markets though. People don't care about playing Guitar or skateboarding as much as they do FPSing and playing with toys.

I don't think so, how many of us have a plastic guitar gathering dust somewhere or owned at least one Tony Hawks game?

Yeah, and once you have the one guitar, and the one set of songs, who is going to go out and buy more? Same with Tony Hawks. You own the one skater game, who's going to go out and buy even more? Multiplayer FPS games and cartoon toys are things people will buy over and over.

Sorry folks, but i for one am not that impressed with the new edition of Call of Duty Ghost's, when they first showed it at E3 i thought yeah, maybe this will be really good, then as just released the multi-player footage which to be honest just does not impress at all, they have not done enough to improve on what has turned out over the last few outingings, well since mw1 to be honest to be more than a arcade shooter made more for kids. I think the Show has already been won by Battlefield 4 and maybe more so Titanfall.... I know lots of you won't be thinking the same, but think back how good modern warfare was when it came out and to now how its turned out, its an 100 mph gun fest and glitch finders.....

I bought more versions of Guitar hero and Tony Hawks than I did CoD, and I doubt I'm alone in that, they were very popular game series, not niche at all.

I've not read, or missed it. Is CoD still using modified idTech4?

Don't Activision still own the Bond licence? Surprised they not done another one yet. I can see Destiny making huge profits for Activision, just hope they don't ruin Bungie's work.

Yep, Activision still own Bond, they've only managed one good game with the licence so far though, and they're probably waiting for the next film to squeeze out another turd.

They also hold the Marvel Licence and the Transformers Licence

And they haven't done much worthwhile with either of them either.

I dont know. War for, and Fall of Cybertron were alright. Better than the ballsack bad movie tie-ins!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends are the only ones I really like

This is my point exactly, Activision have a shed load of licences with amazing potential, but they sit on them or produce crap for the most part, and all their energy goes in to milking a few franchises until everyone is sick of them.

Cos Shopto has a Playstation bias.

I thought they weren't selling any Activision games.

i think that, that's just for call of duty ghosts, according to google it is to do with activision not allowing shopto or all online retailers in general not to dispatch the call of duty ghosts game 2 days before the release date so it arrives at your address on the release date, so shopto have refused to sell call of duty ghosts, this makes perfect sense to me and im 99% certain that this is correct but i could be wrong.
