Zune Marketplace to close down

Microsoft is to retire Zune Marketplace, the Xbox 360 service for music and video.

Starting August 22, the marketplace will be closed and will be replaced with Xbox Video and Xbox Music.

Anyone who has an Xbox Music Pass will still have access to unlimited music streaming, as well as any music, movies or TV shows they have purchased while those on the original Zune Music Pass will still be able to download 10 songs per month.

Xbox apps including Xbox Video and Xbox Music will appear in place of Zune Marketplace to provide access to music and video.

Zune was good for renting a film then you could invite your friends on XBL to come and watch it with you and be in a group chat and talk about it. Seemed a bit expensive compared to using netflix but it was alright I suppose for that kind of feature anyway. I don't know if MS will still keep up with that feature but probably not.

I watched the Guild on Zune, but sadly don't see a place for it anymore.
