PSN Maintenance this Thursday

Sony has announced a scheduled maintenance on the PlayStation Network starting this Thursday.

The downtime is expected to last six and a half hours, although as usual if you’ve signed into the PSN before hand you should still be able to play online during the outage. The PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management will be unavailable.

Seriously? taking the network down the night after they hand out access to the MP beta for KZ:Mercenary? making PS+ mandatory for online play best stop this kind of thing. THIS SHIT NEEDS TO STOP SONY!

Making PS+ mandatory won't stop this, server maintenance is always going to be needed, it sucks that it's going to stop you from playing the Killzone multiplayer but if they didn't do it the servers would breakdown and it would take longer to get them working again

I fully understand the need for server maintenance, what I'm hoping is that with the added income from mandatory PS+, Sony's servers will be upgraded to a farm that can be updated on a rolling basis, without the need to take down the entire network. Taking everything down to work on it, in 2013, is somewhat archaic don't you think?

The KZ Multiplayer would be less of an issue if it wasn't an almost constant thing. In the EU, MP betas are released on Wednesdays, and for every big release that has it, the next day there is PSN maintenance that takes the servers off line. That's pretty terrible timetabling don't you think?

Yeah must admit the most logical thing to so would be to do it the day before a big beta launch or big online game.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
