gamescom 2013: PS Vita price cut and new games announced

Sony have just announced that the Playstation Vita will be getting a price cut in European and North American territories.

The new price will be €199.99 and $199.99

Memory Cards for the device have also been "significantly reduced'

Sony also announced 7 brand new titles heading to the PS Vita. Borderlands 2, Football Manager Classic 2014, Lego Marvel, Murasaki Baby, Big Fest.

Murasaki Baby is a completely brand new IP where the player leads a small female character around a nightmareish world.

Big Fest, another new IP, is a free to play game where you become a music promotor, allowing you to create, build & manage the a growing music festival.

Wait. Is the £180 price below the article the new price!? Because it's been £169 with Memory Card + Few games the past few weeks most other places... Like the look of the Big Fest. But Sony need to act now with games for this but nobody wants to give them. A bunch of indie titles or PS3 ports aren't gonna be bought. In fact I'm tempted to sell my console asap before it's made even more worthless. Was worth it to see the Sony Ponies honestly think that the Vita is gonna destroy the 3DS in sales now tho

The £180 one is the 3G model... the £169 bundle option is the Wi-Fi only Vita... They just showed on Gamescom a guy playing AC4 on PS4 and then they carried on playing it from the Vita via remote play... Almost all PS4 games will be able to be played this way via remote play, if you're getting a PS4 I definitely wouldn't sell it

Good move. When your console is failing to sell, a price cut is absolutely essential (A lesson some in similar predicaments would do well to learn). Shops will probably have Vita under £150 by chrimbo... should be interesting to see what happens there.

"Was worth it to see the Sony Ponies honestly think that the Vita is gonna destroy the 3DS in sales now tho" - Pitifully childish sentiment as ever, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Vita doesn't need to "destroy" 3DS anyhoo, mobile gaming is already doing a fine job of that as evidenced by the 3DS failing to come close to matching it's predecessor's success at every turn.

Needs to have games + price cut for it to do anything. A price cut will only boost sales temporarily for around a month. It needs the games for the console to really take off. Considering Sony haven't managed to announce anything new for the console first party wise for some time now it's pretty clear that they have pretty much abandoned the console, much like most of the other developers save for Indies for that matter.

according to google the $199 converted to pounds is £126.95, so even if shop.to sell it at £130 im sure a lot of people would be intersted, but seriously... i hope you get on this shop.to just need to save up for that memory card drop! :)

You are forgetting VAT, it will be around £150/160, still not worth that, I hardly played mine and I was a big PSP fan, waste of money :( and the damn memory cards, if Sony announced some better games then i'd consider keeping it but off to ebay it goes haha

Oho... just saw Minecraft was announced for Vita. A bundle with that in time for christmas together with the price cut could be a serious gamechanger... Things getting very interesting now :)

I just don't see that as a game changer david. I would like a vita but its the lack of first party games that are putting me off.
