FIFA 14 Legacy Edition coming to Vita next month *update*

It looks like we have our answer as to whether this year's FIFA 14 for Vita is just a reskinned version of the previous two.

"There will be a Vita version, and it'll be the same great gameplay," EA Sports' David Rutter told Eurogamer at Gamescom in Cologne. Asked whether that means it's the very same gameplay that appeared on FIFA's debut on the Vita, Rutter confirmed: "It's the same great gameplay and new kits."

There we go then, disappointing indeed.

Original: FIFA 14 Legacy Edition will launch on PS Vita next month, described by EA as having the largest feature set ever created by EA Sports for a handheld device.

According to the description you'll be able to take part in eight different game modes, including 11 vs. 11, Be A Pro Mode, a full in-depth Career Mode, and head-to-head online. Rear touch pad and touchscreen play will also make a return, along with over 500 officially licensed clubs and over 50 real-world tournaments.

Here's the key features:

Rear Touch Pad Shooting - Enjoy complete control over shooting. Pick a spot precisely from the rear touch pad and then finesse a shot with pin-point accuracy.
Touchscreen Passing - A more intelligent and creative way to play and distribute the ball. Make decisive passes with precision and ease utilizing the touchscreen.
Touchscreen Free Kick Control - Enjoy creative new ways to take free kicks and score. Swipe your finger to aim and curl a shot around the wall for the match-winning goal that lifts your club to victory.
Award-winning FIFA gameplay - Experience authentic, responsive and intelligent HD console gameplay, including stunning player models, graphics and animations in High Definition.
Unmatched Authenticity - Compete with over 500 officially licensed clubs in 11 v 11 matches in authentic stadiums from around the world.
Career Mode - Play or manage your way to glory. Begin as a real player or created player and evolve into a player-manager and manager--or just begin at the top--and enjoy a 15-season career. Features include, authentic tournament structures and results, Team Management system for player comparisons, and Friends Leaderboards.
Be a Pro - Create yourself in game and become the next football legend. Build your reputation, and develop your skills to ultimately compete for your favorite club and national side.
Tournament Mode - Compete in over 50 real-world tournaments from around the world. Play with/against friends in leagues ranging from the Barclays Premiership to the Bundesliga.
Head-to-Head Online - Play head-to-head online against a friend in authentic 11 v 11 matches.
Training Mode - Master Touchscreen controls, perfect set pieces and practice moves before playing games.

From the description above we are guessing there is no Ultimate Team mode. We were pretty disappointed that FIFA 13 on Vita was pretty much a reskinned version of FIFA Football, so are hoping that a little more effort has went into this version.

It's the same damn game. No new skills, no match day. Goddamn EA. Just skip the VITA like you skipped the WiiU if you know you will put out a 2 year old game again.

It is the same, but then again so is the full priced PS3 version. It really annoys me but then again, what can they improve or change when football never changes?

Rob - The full price PS3 game changes year after year. If you don't play it, then it's a bit of a bad judgement. If you do, then you'll know.

A Vita version with Ultimate Team would be an instant winner, I can dream.
