Sony reveals £1300 HMZ-T3 headset

Sony has revealed its £1300 HMZ-T3, a third-generation virtual reality headset.

This new headset will work with PS4, although it's not the rumoured Oculus Rift rival that they are said to be working on. Instead Sony's rumoured Virtual Reality headset to accompany the PlayStation 4 is said to be showing behind closed doors at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.

According reports, Sony's initial plans were to reveal the headset at Gamescom, but the announcement was pulled at the last minute.

£1300 sounds a lot for what is essentially a screen built in to some goggles and a pair of headphones.

£1,300, is that it? ;-) I am looking forward to VR headsets but I do fear the price of them is going to be out of most people's budgets

I don't see why though, the tech isn't that expensive, it's little more than a Wii U pad strapped to your head.

"it's little more than a Wii U pad strapped to your head." Don't give Nintendo any crazy ideas!

£1300 for a headset and a screen? No thanks. VR is a gimmick any way, we don't need this in gaming.

" it's little more than a Wii U pad strapped to your head." - If a Wii U pad had decent screen resolution then maybe.

Of course it will give you a headache Tootell, all new tech that forces your eyes to see stuff in different ways (& in the case of this tricks your brain) will give you headaches at first. Think about the first time you used a 3DS or viewed 3D

Screen resolution aside, all the tech necessary is there, plus more.

I agree that it is over priced. Even the Oculus Rift is targeting a $300 price point

So they seen how well the occulus rift has been received and they decided to make there own but I thought Sony did not copy any ideas :) On a serious note that is a horrid price far too dear.
