EA has 6-8 news IP's in development

EA has 6-8 games in development according to Games chief Patrick Soderlund.

Speaking to MCV, Soderlund told the site that games such as Star Wars and Mirror’s Edge 2 are proof the firm is still willing to take risks on new ideas.

“We are working on a new Mirror’s Edge game, and although that’s not a new IP, it is a revival done in a new way. We are developing Star Wars Battlefront, which to us is a new IP, even though it isn’t technically,” he said.

“We have six to eight completely new IPs in the works. The day we stop making new IP is when we go onto life support. We need to incubate new ideas and push creative boundaries.”

What do you think of Mirror's Edge and Battlefront being classed as new IP's? Even though they are technically old franchises?

"games such as Star Wars and Mirror’s Edge 2 are proof the firm is still willing to take risks on new ideas." Is this a joke? A franchise with an extremely strong fan base, and a sequel to a game, are proof of risk taking on new ideas?

So they must of been on life support for a while as I cant really remember many new ips from EA in the last few years.

There is 'some' basis for saying they are risks. Mirror's Edge didn't sell all that well on release - it seemed borderline as to whether a sequel would sell without big changes, which is why it wasn't made before. Battlefront had such a following that they run the risk of 'not as good a the original' critique if its not up to standard - plenty of game reboots fail.

EA always make me laugh, their delivery is a little too deadpan though.

Seen Mirrors Edge 2 trailers seem's to be nothing new there and Battlefront will have bigger maps more players and AI Bots and the usual titivation's,Hardly anything new or risky here how stupid do they think we are Now if they made a Star Wars Parkour game that would be a new IP
