Activision details current to next gen upgrades for Call of Duty: Ghosts

Activision has provided details on how you'll be able to upgrade to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Call of Duty: Ghosts, should you buy the current console versions first.

On Xbox 360, gamers can purchase a disc-less dual-license digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts at participating retailers for a suggested retail price of £69.99. This version will include the Xbox 360 digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, as well as the Xbox One digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts – linked and unlocked via a user’s Xbox Live gamertag.

Via the Game Ahead Program, players can also purchase a digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts directly from the Xbox Live Marketplace and, when ready to upgrade to Xbox One, you can purchase a digital Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts for a suggested retail price of just £10 on the Xbox Live Marketplace until March 31, 2014.

The PS4 upgrade program will see every new physical copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts for PS3 include a flyer with a unique Sony code on it. Redeem the code packed into the PS3 version of the game on the PlayStation Store and download the PS4 version of the game for £10 depending on territory.

Alternatively, if you buy the digital PS3 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts from the PlayStation Store, you will also be given the opportunity to upgrade to the PS4 version. Simply go to the PlayStation store and purchase the discounted PS4 version for a suggested retail price of £10 depending on territory. You will then be able to enjoy the PS3 version on your PS3, and the PS4 version on you PS4.

So its cheaper to go the sony route on this one and you can get a physical copy of the ps3 version.

The price on the disc less xbox one is way too much. If i do go for it it will depend on the price of the digital version. Seems strange that xbox are not doing the thing with the code in it like sony are.

Hopefully this is different to the Battlefield 4 one where you need the ps3 disk in your ps4 to play the digital upgrade copy (DRM gone mad). There will be a nice money-saving loophole on this if so...
