Wii Fit U users get free one month trial

Nintendo America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed that Wii Fit U will be available to all gamers free for one month, with a fee then being charged to continue using the service.

"Wii Fit U is all about ‘fun fitness’ for everyone in the family. With this special offer, Nintendo is making it easier than ever for families to get active and stay active, making now the perfect time to upgrade to Wii U. This is another example of the kind of value and variety that only Nintendo can offer."

If you would like to continue after the trial then you'll need a Fit Meter accessory at $19.99/£19.99.

The Wii Fit U  pedometer-like "Fit Meter" is a 3-axis accelerometer device designed to be attached at the hip and measure activity and calculate steps and exercise intensity. It also includes a pressure sensor, which measures changes in altitude and calculates various activities like climbing up and down stairs.

Other metrics shown by the Fit Meter include calories burned, target calories, elevation from home, time, temperature, METs graph, an elevation graph, and one month of calories burned in graph form.

The free month offer ends January 31st. The full game launches later this year.
