Wii Production coming to an end in Japan *update*

Update: A message on the Nintendo Japan website now reads: "manufacturing has ended."

What are your favourite Wii memories now that the console is no longer in production?

Original: A small note of the Official Nintendo Wii website [via] has confirmed that production will soon come to an end in Japan.

The console, which sold over 100 million units worldwide and around 12.6 million units in Japan alone, certainly has had an amazing run, thanks in part to the fitness craze it seemed to create, with Wii Sports, Wii Fit and of course titles from Mario and Zelda leading the way.

The system was never fully embraced by third party developers, yet still went on to be one of the most successful consoles ever.

It seems that Nintendo will not concentrate its efforts on Wii U and 3DS.

What fond memories do you have of Nintendo Wii?

Had some good times with my Wii before the graphics card died. Super Mario Galaxy remains one of my favourite games of all time. I remember feeling when playing it that Nintendo had really done something special, and had pushed the boundaries of platform gaming to a new level. Might sound a bit OTT to some but I genuinely loved the game that much.

It's understand, when considering Wii U can do almost all the things Wii can do.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
