Project Spark doesn't require Xbox LIVE

Microsoft's Project Spark is free-to-play on PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and will be open to all users.

The hardware giant has announced that users will not need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to access this or other free-to-play releases.

"You will not need a Gold subscription to play Project Spark for free on any platform," community manager Mike Lescault explained via Reddit.

An Xbox One beta is due in January 2014 and is expected to be nearly complete by that time. A PC and Xbox 360 version will follow, although specific features will be unique to Xbox One thanks to the new Kinect camera.
