Royal Mail set to strike on November 4 - yes this is significant

Royal Mail are getting set to strike on November 4. Now you may think to yourself what has this got to do with gaming, well...

Looking at our release schedule perhaps one of the biggest games of the year is set to release on Tuesday November 5 - Call of Duty Ghosts!

Obviously ShopTo are not currently stocking this game due to reasons we have talked about before, but this strike could potentially affect millions of gamers who will be waiting on the game to arrive.

We are sure Activision will take the strike into consideration, however when Royal Mail goes on strike at one of the busiest times of the year, that means backlogs, so if the game doesn't hit doorsteps before the strike then it could potentially be delayed for longer than gamers would desire.

Is this bad news for you? What's should Activision do?

We have to just hope that they work quickly to catch up on the backlog quickly.

This could be good news for the high street at least, as many gamers will cancel their online pre-orders and go to brick and mortar stores to get their hands on one of the biggest releases of the year.

Can you imagine the Rage, the hate royal mail were getting for not delivering GTA a day early it will be so much worse if the game is late.

This is the first year since both the GTA and CoD franchises started that I won't have bought either of them and I have to say, it's nice to sit back and watch the mayhem unfold without being directly involved for a change. =)

It not just the 5th that bothers me but the days leading up tot he strike it likely they will slack off soon November hits, I have a few games that come out just before hope Shop.to considers getting them out earlier just in case.

You know how much backlog can actually build up over 24 hours?

Then upgrade your order if you can't wait a few more days. Yes Anthony it is only for one day but that means that Royal Mail won't be picking the orders up on the 4th

Royal Mail are not setting to strike, it is the Postal Workers. Postal Workers basically want long term job security, and giving Royal Mail a 2 week deadline to come up with an agreement, so the strike may not even happen. Last year (or the year before) there was going to be a strike and it got aborted. Doing one now is not that wise as it gets busy on the run up to Christmas, and a strike will damage the business, and postal workers may end up losing their jobs as a result, in cut backs from the damage, when probably would not have done if there was no strike.

People losing their jobs as a result from the strike is not important? Full info here: http://news.uk.msn.com/royal-mail-workers-vote-for-strike "People who rely on Royal Mail to deliver billions of pounds of goods ordered online would have their festive season disrupted, and loss of trade would lead to job cuts in many companies across the economy." It seems that the strike will not just lose jobs from within the Royal Mail but other companies as well.

Activision should stop making CoD games and announce Dark Edition of Skylanders for PS4

Or just download the game, which is how everything should be.

The smart thing to do is scare Royal Mail with a strike to push the issues with no intent of following it though, but then if the Royal Mail does not come through, look for another job if you do not like Royal Mails T&Cs. It is easier to find another job when you are already in a job, and in this day and age it is hard to find a job when unemployed, and gets harder the longer you are unemployed.

If the game was the same price as retail.. i think most people would download it.

1st: I think you mean Losing. 2nd: The Boss has said that COD actually loses Money, the game is just a way to drive up business

Won't be able to play it until the Xbox One gets delivered later in the month anyway, bit rubbish for those who want it for the current gen though

Who cares about COD? Just put on any of the previous games...voila! As for Royal Mail...good. It provides a rubbish service, putting up prices whilst closing post offices and delivering mail slower than ever. Sooner it goes bust and other companies take over the better. Sad for the employees but we need some more competition that actually delivers on time for a fair price.
