Call of Duty: Ghosts sales fall by 50 percent

Sales of Call of Duty: Ghosts in UK are around 50 per cent lower than Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

The news comes via trade website MCV, which cites 'retail sources' as the source of this information.

Perhaps it comes as no surprise that the site suggest that due to the Xbox One and PS4 launch sales are down and will no doubt pick up again once the game arrives.

Given that both sales of Battlefield 4 are down 69 per cent over Battlefield 3 and Assassin’s Creed IV sales are down 60 per cent of Assassin’s Creed III this would seem to make sense.

Do you feel sales of all three games will pick up with the new generation of consoles? Are you planning on purchasing any of these games for your Xbox One or PS4?

I'd like to think people are just getting pissed off with the same thing year in year out,but probably not, people are stupid.

I saw a video on YouTube about a guy that went to a Tesco midnight launch for the game, despite saying he hated Black Ops 2 so much. Only a trailer for Ghosts convinced him to get it that night. Geez!

And of course the problems with the PC version, crappy graphics (comparing to other titles), same engine, same models (even scenes!), bad reviews, etc. had nothing to do with it ;)

My guess is that the whole "Oh the PS4 version of COD Ghost runs like crap" is directly related to the fact that the PS4 is close to the PC architecture wise and from what I have seen the PC version is a pile of crap

I actually enjoyed Black Ops 2 BUT Call of Duty is just a cash cow... I am starting to hate the latest game coming out and being exactly the same as the last one. Also the game is only worth it if you buy the season ticket which costs an additional £35! I would buy the Black Ops 2 maps if they are going to support the game for some time. If they arent and its just going to be invaded by hackers... really what is the point.

We need to bring back the Singularity Multi-player

Tbh honest the reason CoD does well is because of the replayability and how easy it is to just pick up and do well. There is basically no learning curve to it.

The thing i hear most from 360/xb1 users is that BF4 is now more like COD with uber nerfing going on with weapons - almost as if EA and Dice are trying to take from COD user base. Basically too much added to BF4 to induce kiddies turning up in multiplayer sessions . Left the COD franchise along time ago roughly around blackops feeling the wind had gone out of the sales of COD. Now i have ordered both titles for XB1 and wonder was it a good idea at all . Then there is the 720p for both on XB1 with shitty upscaling leaves one feeling robbed at purchase. Modern warfare 2 and bf3 rules. Hopefully it wont be long for them to ramp up and patch for almost 4 different platforms. A new COD has been announced for next year all that says to me is yes "We rushed this to market", as did BF4.

they're both basically the same game, one has big maps one has small maps. there is no skill to shooting games, its just pointing and shooting. resolution doesn't matter if you're not playing in a cinema. the graphics are not crap by ay means, ive played a few games with crap graphics and this is not one of them, especially on the new gen. the next gen sales haven't been recorded yet so this article is irrelevant.

BF3 was an FPS for l33t players. Cod is for the people with small hands.

The fact of the matter is there is alot of facotrs that contribute to people buying call of duty. For the majority of people gaming is just something on the side which doesn't take up alot of time/money so obviously if they can just buy one game a year with alot of replayability and something they can pick up and play they will. Obviously this site is going to be bias as the majority of the people here arn't casual gamers as they wouldn't be checking the gaming news everyday. Tbh i envy the people who can survive the year just buying 1-2 games as they save alot of money.

Well releasing the same shit over and over again worked for Nintendo, but they at less put effort into their game, while CoD is Fifa of Shooters

Like you said you have Mario the side scrolling version but then you also have Mario Kart 8 they have not changed much since the beginning. Mario Party. Zelda which essentially has the same story every time as well as the same go get this dungeon and unlock this new upgrade and so on. Not saying they are bad but it is taking the same thing and doing it over again.

They can't really use the 'next gen' excuse really. Considering the PS4/XB1 games have been sent out at the same time as the other ones. I just laugh that they thought they were going to break GTA5's record.

I never play Mario Party & Mario Kart is the same as any other racing game, it just adds in new tracks, new cars/characters and new mechanics but by no way in hell is Zelda the same game over and over. That's like saying Every Metriod/Prime is the same

He has a point, Mario/Zelda haven't really changed much. Mario and Zelda have had the same stories each time and they're releasing 2 new Mario games this year. They're not bad but where are the new IP's from Nintendo? They have blockbuster franchises they could bring back like Starfox and F-Zero.

2 new Mario games this year? What's the other one because I only know about Mario 3D World?

New Luigi U, Luigi's Mansion 2, Mario + Luigi and Mario 3D world off the top of my head. Granted they're all different but they don't see that. Lets ignore the fact Killzone has two 'different' games released in the space of 2 months.

Zelda pretty much is doing the same thing over. You have to find a dungeon where you will find a new item that you will use in some way to fight the boss and get a heart piece and an item vital to the quest which you essentially repeat until the end. Also the fact that every time its always a young guy wearing green using a sword and shield who has to save the princess. Not saying it is a bad choice to keep it the same as what it does it does do well but the only difference between this and the likes of COD is there is not a new one every year though it would be interesting to see the reaction if it was.

And GTA is always a criminal driving round shooting people, and FIFA is always football, and Marvel vs Capcom is always superheroes fighting videogame characters, and WWE is always wrestling, and Halo is always shooting aliens and Need for Speed is always racing cars. I could go on and on and on and on.
Zombieflamingo's avatar

I know but at least the likes of GTA, Halo and COD try to do a different story each time granted it may not be very good but at least they try. What I was making a point of is that it seems to be ok for some to do the same thing and its fine but not others just because it is a more often than the other.

I know those Mario games are different when did i not see that? when did i ignore the two Killzones? I know there are two Killzone's released within two months of each other but you do realize there won't be another Killzone for a long time as Guerilla is working on a new IP right??

The Zelda games follow a formula but no way are they the same story, the games are all about adventure and discovering new things. All games follow a formula (Some more so that others)

Do you not always work Link who eventually has to get the triforce to save the world and usually save Zelda along the way? You will learn Keira that you are not aloud to say anything that is not singing the praises of Nintendo on here.

It's the frequency that's the problem, not the repetition, games in a series are always going to be similar, but you don't care if you're waiting 5 years between each one.

I stand corrected about they ones then. I do agree with you on the sports game where the changes could really be done with just an update or a smaller expansion pack. I wouldn't mind if infinity ward stopped Call of duty and went onto something else with a Treyarch one every two years.

Link's Awakening, The Minish Cap, Link's Crossbow Training, Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. Anyhoo the Infinity Ward of today is not the Infinity Ward of old, they lost most of their talent after MW2
