PlayStation 4 UI detailed in New York

It's launch week for the PlayStation 4 in New York and new details of the User Interface are appearing all over the internet.

For instance, did you know that players can configure the PS4 for PlayStation Camera log-in, using a one-time calibration you'll be able to log in with your face. All you need to do is be holding the DS4 in front of the camera and it'll automatically turn on when it recognises you.

The console also supports multiple users and guest log-ins. So if you come along with your own account, all of your PSN content and details will appear and then when you log our everything will be deleted.

Additionally, using the home button on the DualShock 4 you'll be able to switch between apps, while a double press takes you to the last opened app.

Cross Platform chat was also detailed, confirming previously known fact that both PS4 and Vita, smartphones and tablets will be supported providing the latter two have the PS App installed. Party chat supports up to eight users, although you can have more than one chat room opened, allowing for near unlimited support.

Trophies have been given a new rarity value, which are 'Common', 'Rare', 'Very Rare' and finally 'Ultra Rare,' which is based on just how many people over the world have managed to unlock that particular trophy.

Twitch broadcasting is unlimited, meaning you can broadcast as long as you like, although recording footage for upload is limited to 15 minutes, although it is buffered so you'll never miss a gameplay moment.

There are loads more details too, such as the ability choose in what order you download games from the store, allowing you to choose between downloading the Campaign or Multiplayer sections of games first.

You can also sharing content choose whether to show friends your real name or just your PSN ID.

Finally, Movies and Music now stream, so you'll never need to download them, while there is also the ability to remotely download games to your system, allowing you to use the PS App to wake the system and get the downloads ready for when you get home.

The PS4 launches in North America on November 15, and in Europe and beyond on November 29.

Are you excited?

Same here. I'm not quite as old! But unfortunately I have to accept that I too am an adult. Pre-ordered, paid for, Vita bought, new TV, new sound system, new chair, new girlfriend... well, not yet. Can't wait. I have a countdown on my phone (like a child). 17 days!

Ai, it's all looking good. Got the day off work, and the following Monday too, for some real gaming to take place. Having a get together on launch day too so there should be lots of gaming and lots of fun across a variety of consoles. Really looking forward to the day!
