EA explains why Titanfall is not coming to PS4

Titanfall (well the first game in the series at least) is never coming to PS4 and to its credit, EA has at least tried to explain why.

Speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that EA's partnership with Microsoft on Titanfall is a basic business agreement and in this respect it made sense for the company to stick exclusively to Microsoft platforms.

"That's a process that's been done through the industry for many years," Jorgensen said. "There's lots of single-platform titles. Obviously, you work with the first-parties to make sure the economics make sense for all sides, and we made that decision on Titanfall.

"It's a business partnership. We're trying to make sure that we've developed a great relationship with them," he said. "We helped them on marketing, we helped them on development where they need it. And we try to maintain a strong partnership with them over time."

EA did at least say that any potential sequels could possibly be coming to PS4, although this will no doubt depend on the success of the first.

"Obviously it's the first title that's committed to a single platform." Jorgensen confirmed.

We get the feeling some cash changed hands somewhere along the line, although no-one would ever admit that.

Titanfall releases March 11, 2014 in North America, and March 13, 2014 in Europe and Australia.

same reason as Dead Rising. Can be summed up in a single word. Money

These companys would get a bit more respect if they just came out and said "because they paid us a boatload of money"

It is also a brand new IP. Do you take a chance and spend a massive amount of money bringing it to both consoles and find it flops, or get some extra cash in a deal with one company, while also spending less creating it? It's called good business sense, and you know, the idea of a business is to actually make money...

As is this is a big surprise? This is what sells consoles. People complained about Microsoft's lack of support for exclusives on the Xbox 360, so they're throwing money into Xbox One exclusives. Good on them, in my opinion.

@Daniel, theres a difference between making (funding) exclusives (Ryse, Zoo Tycoon, Quantum break) and paying money for 3rd party games to not be on a certain console (DR3, Titanfall). One of those methods is great and should be encouraged. The other is quite frankly bad for gamers and distasteful.

in my opinion that should not be allowed , it seem evil that a company willingly asks a third party developer how much would you accept so ps4 owners cannot play that game, and the third party is also sad for accepting the money to stop gamers playing their games, i dont ming 1st party games as they are invested in the console ...... i dont do fanboy shite, ps4 has its good points , xbone has its good points, wii u is an amazing console too, just hate money grabbing companies who care more about their wallets than the gamers they make for

It does make sense though as they need to get funding from somewhere especially with it being a new IP, I do not see how it is wrong though as who is to say stuff like Dead Rising 3 and this would have even been made if it were not from the extra funding from another company again it is the same as with Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U that game would have never seen the light of day if it were not for nintendo.
