Call of Duty: Ghosts is best selling PS4 title since launch, claims Activision

EA has already said that one in three PS4 titles have come from its catalogue and now its rival is claiming to be the number one selling game on the PS4.

Yes, according to Activision, Call of Duty: Ghosts has been the best selling 'retail' game for PS4 in the US since launch.

"Call of Duty: Ghosts is the No. 1 best-selling game on PS4 in North America at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart," CEO Eric Hirshberg stated, while also stating that it's the most pre-ordered for Xbox One too.

"We couldn't be more excited about the consumer response as we look forward to this Friday's release of Xbox One. As we've said before, it's a great time to be a gamer, and a great time for Call of Duty fans."

Walmart’s VP of entertainment Chris Nagelson added: "The momentum for this title on next-gen is incredible. We know fans across the country will be heading to Walmart this weekend to pick up their Xbox One edition, and on Black Friday to bring home Call of Duty: Ghosts. We expect Ghosts to be one of the most in-demand Christmas gifts of this year."

Sounds like the Call of Duty train is not about to stop any time soon. Let's just hope that it somehow gets an upgrade along the way.

Good for Activision I guess, but as a gamer this is depressing news. I was hoping CoD would be a one generation thing, that a move to new systems would open people up to new experiences, and fresh ideas. CoD tainted the PS3 and X360 with it's casual nature and minimal improvements, by showing other developers that to win in the games market, the world and there grandma must feel like there the best player in the world the second they touch the controller, and that making a player have to actually play the game to get good at it was a bad thing, and that you don't need to improve the game with every new release, or add new and interesting features, just repackage the same title every year and the masses will buy it. It's sad to see that because of this series, other developers simply won't take any risks anymore, Assassin's Creed started as an amazing idea and risk, but because of CoD they won't stop now that they found something that consistently makes them money without even trying, even WatchDog's is essentially current day Assassin's Creed. It's sad that an industry that seemed to be built on taking risks is now more scared to take them than any other.
