Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn hits PS4 in April 2014

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will arrive on PlayStation 4 in April 2014.

While this is great news for Final Fantasy fans, Square has also announced that it will invite players to test out the game in beta trials starting February 22, 2014, which also happens to be the same day PS4 launches in Japan.

If you have been playing the game on PS3, then you'll be able to transfer progress to PS4, although once you do you'll need to keep playing on the new system.

Are you excited for Final Fantasy 14?

Where did you get the information that you won't be able to play on PS3 anymore? I mostly play on PC in anyway (have been for over 3 years) but even after getting to play it on PS4, I'd still want to have access to playing it on PS3 as well. I assumed it would be a simple upgrade in the same way as the PC-PS3 (and even the same as FFXI on PC-PS2-360) that you would be able to play on all the available systems as long as you have that copy registered on your service account. I guess if it is true it will simply change your PS3 registration into a PS4 one and if that's the case I wonder if you can simply register another PS3 copy to get PS3 access again.

If you were to buy the PS4 copy you can play both the PS3 and PS4 however if you take up the free upgrade offer then it basically upgrades your account to the PS4 but you will still need the PS3 disc to play. Seeing as the game is about £50 to preorder on the PS4 it makes sense to just buy the PS3 version for £10.
