Nintendo seems to be having a few issues of late. Super Mario 3D World is regarded as one of the finest games of the year, yet it doesn't seem to be selling quite as well as it should. So why is this?
Part of me thinks that it's because people don't know it's a new game. Even when I'm writing about it, I have to stop and think for a second if I'm getting the name right (is it Land or World?) and this can't be good considering that I'm constantly writing about games each day.
It all makes me wonder if Nintendo has done enough to differentiate both this and the previous game in the series. It's like the Wii and Wii U all over again, with many people I known of still not being convinced that the Wii U is a new console, but is instead "some sort of handheld device."
The question is, what can Nintendo do to convince people to buy its games and the Wii U? Has it gone about advertising them in the wrong way?
