The Witch and the Hundred Knights coming to Europe via the PlayStation Network next year

NIS America has announced that it will publish Nippon Ichi Software's The Witch and the Hundred Knights on PlayStation 3 on March 21.

The RPG was originally released in Japan in 2012 and is based on the story of two witches who live in the forest: the beautiful marsh witch and the ugly forest witch, who are both engaged in a war for dominance.

Players take on the role of one of the hundred knights after they meet the Marsh witch and agree to represent her in battles against the forest witch.

The game will be released via The PlayStation Network and as far as we know, will not appear as a retail release.

I have no idea what this is, but looking on youtube it does look intriguing.

Well if it doesn't get a physical release over here then I'm importing it

Hoping NIS are working on some PS4 RPGs definately whats lacking from both launches is an RPG of some sort.
Bindiana 9 months ago
I can almost guarantee you that the titles Nippon Ichi are working on aren't for Next-Gen
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
At least not until they see how the PS4 does in Japan
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Well does look like console RPGs are slowly dying out. Xbox gave up on them pretty quickly apart from Final Fantasy. The Wii U doesnt have any apart from Zelda does it? Least the 3DS is knocking out some good RPGs
Bindiana 9 months ago
Not much RPGs as of now but we know some are coming in the form of Xeno and Megaten X Fire Emblem
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Fyi it was was more like Japan gave up on the Xbox, which is a shame really cos Lost Odyssey and Magnacarta 2 were good games
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Magnacarta 2 was a South Korean game but it was released in Japan first so it still counts
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Fair point they also had tales of Vesperia as well. Hoping Level 5 are working on something for Sony maybe Dark Cloud/Chronicle 3
Bindiana 9 months ago
Vesperia was a Western Exclusive but yeah

Tbh I think we may see more in the way of RPGs. For me, last gen was all about FPS, this time it already seems to be about open world environments - hence more RPG style games. At least I hope so

Personally I don't like Open World games much
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
I like the ability to go where I want and explore but at the same time still have a purpose. I don't mind linear games but the one thing that really bugs the Hell out of me (e.g. CoD ---> follow, follow, follow)
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
La Noire is the prime example of an Open World done bad
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
I quite liked that ... lol. However, Far Cry 3 is an example of a good Open World and The Division just looks epic
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
It was a good game but it was pointless to have an Open World
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Also not forgetting Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim, brilliant Open Worlds
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
*pfft* I think you mean Morrowind
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
I loved Skyrim. One of my favourite old PC RPGs was Baldurs Gate
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
I do like the old school JRPG open world maps they always seemed fun dont see them very often now was nice to see in Ni No Kuni. Not a big fan of open world games myself havent even gotten around to playing GTA V yet.
Bindiana 9 months ago
I've not even looked at Ni No Kuni, is it any good? GTA V was fun for a while then I found it got a little boring
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
I loved Ni No Kuni it brought back a lot of nostalgia of the old school playstation RPGs like Suikoden and Final Fantasy VII-IX. Its probably one of my top games this year.
Bindiana 9 months ago
I have had Ni No Kuni since release but I have yet to play it. If you want a good Open World RPG then look no further than Dragon's Dogma (One of my games of the Generation)
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Tried Dragons Dogma, couldn't get into it for some reason. Think I'll give Ni No a go though. Just watched trailer/review on youtube
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
Dragon's Dogma did take a while to get into and then when you get to Gran Soren you hit a wall
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Well if you go onto the NI No Kuni buying page on here you will see my one and only game review for it in the review tab.
Bindiana 9 months ago
You can't, Shopto has been having problems with some pages for the past few days
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago

Nope. Also Etrian Odyssey 4, Resonance of Fate & Guided Fate Paradox come up with a error as well
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
All those seem to work for me very strange.
Bindiana 9 months ago
Just had a look at your review Bindiana (One of the best I've read incidentally) and definitely think I will have to have get it. Might swap GTA V for it
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
Thanks BubbaJai :)

I enjoyed Ni No Kuni up until near the end, without spoiling it for you I just feel that it drags on and should have ended earlier than usual. I would like more RPG in general but I just don't have enough time to play them just now and get properly into it. Some open world do end up being a bit of a grind though.

Dark Souls is Open World as well. I have a review on the page if your interested
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Dark Souls for me was a nightmare, I knew you'd die a lot, but it was just too much. I'm surprised the other game no one has mentioned is Watch_Dogs. Really looking forward to that too PS3 & 4
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
The 2 biggest things that will get you killed in Demon/Dark Souls are impatience and stupidity
Loli-Nox-Tan 9 months ago
Guess I was stupidly impatient ... lol
Dave 'BubbaJai' Aston 9 months ago
I thought this was already supposed to be out XD Only just noticed Shopto put the release date back a few month without warning. But yeah. I sure aint gonna be buying an overpriced PSN version. Half of the fun in buying JRPGs is having a collection and knowing they may well be worth something some day. (as opposed to just about every other genre ever where they are worth nothing in weeks) But this is the thing that will kill off the JRPG now. People will buy even less of these titles because its download only thus causing the publisher to just assume people don't want them. They then stop bothering.

Most places I have looked it says Retail & PSN for NA & EU, it's only a few places that say PSN only
Loli-Nox-Tan 8 months ago
The Limited Edition (US only) of this game look so sweet :)
Artemisthemp 8 months ago
@Mah? Sh?jo Nox-Tan other way around Tales of Vesperia (Complete version) was exclusive to Japan. The Witch and The Hungred Knights is getting a retail release (at less in America) - http://store.nisamerica.com/Games/The-Witch-and-the-Hundred-Knight-Standard-Edition Which means EU is also getting a retail version
Artemisthemp 8 months ago
When I said it was a Western Exclusive I meant that it was a Xbox 360 Exclusive in the West
