Vita sales rise 68 percent since launch

It's being reported in the latest issue of MCV that PS Vita sales have risen 68% since the launch of the PS4.

According to the magazine, Vita sales were boosted 68 per cent in the week of PS4's launch, and by 65 per cent the following week, although no actual sales numbers were disclosed.

"PS Vita sales wise we are continuing to see strong week-on-week growth since our latest campaign kicked in," said senior product manager Ben Law (via Videogamer). "The new TV advert went live this week and we've already seen amazing feedback from PS4 owners on the Remote Play feature, and the success of Tearaway highlights what [a] great proposition PS Vita is, either as a standalone device or as the perfect companion to PS4."

It remains to be seen if PS Vita sales will continue to rise as Sony pushes the fact that the device is the perfect companion for PS4. Hopefully with PS Plus support, indie titles and other new gaming experiences, sales of the Vita will continue to be strong.

What do you think? Are the Vita's fortunes about to turn around for the best?

The 'Remote Play' is probably selling more of them than the games for it IMO. The Nvidia shield may have helped.

To be fair it's fortunes can't get much worse, but Sony knew they were in for a up hill battle or at least they should have done, Nintendo dominates the handheld market, always has and probably always will. If Sony want it to continue to improve then they need to dig deep and at some good games on it, not just PS3 ports and glorified phone games, they need more proper titles like Soul Sacrifice, and get jap devs to translate and release their games in the west.

I think it's more down to the big bundle with the PS4 since some stockists are trying to push that. (and bundles always fudge the sales figures so.) I know a few people who have bought that bundle and promptly sold the PSV just cus they wanted a PS4.

I have never played on a Vita but played the PSP, which was very good. However I can't see why I'd want one now... I have an iPhone and that's what I use for Games, music, what I would use as the PS4s second screen... Oh and it's a phone. In fact I would rather buy a second hand Game Boy Advance if I had to get one so I can enjoy all my old games again! OR if Sony develop and release a console which plays all my PS1 and PS2 back catalogue without having to buy them all again they may be onto a winner
