Alien: Isolation revealed by SEGA *update*

Update: Some new trailers and details have been released for Alien: Isolation.

We now know that the game will be released later this year for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, as well as PC.

Apparently the game brings the scare factor to consoles, as it takes a different direction to previous Aliens games, focusing on a slower-paced survival horror style rather than all out combat.

Previews so far say that it is a very ambitious looking project and will include unique features for consoles, such as the Dualshock 4 light glowing green and the motion tracker sound playing through the in-built speaker.

It's also said to be built using a customised engine and all development work has been done in-house at Creative Assembly. It certainly looks interesting, so let's hope the ambition pays off.

Original: Microsoft has posted up a listing for a game titled Alien: Isolation, which is described as a survival horror shooter.

The game is currently under development by The Creative Assembly and is set 15 years after the events of the film Alien.

"Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and immortal danger," the game's description reads. Players will take on the role of Amanda, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, as she goes on a mission to find out the truth behind her mother's disappearance. The listing states that players will navigate through "an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and and unpredictable, ruthless Alien."

The listing shows both single-player and offline co-op modes, as well online multiplayer and co-op for up to four players.

Microsoft lists the release date as today, which we imagine is wrong considering no-one has heard a thing about this game.

Alien: Isolation is to be published by SEGA according to the listing, so chances are it'll be a multi-platform release.

I thought after Colonial Marines Sega would let the Alien franchise die.

Going by the last Sega Alien release, I would avoid this like the plague

Not got high hopes for this, even if I ignore that Ripleys daughter died of old age on Earth and knew nothing of the Aliens.

They couldn't even get a fundamental part of the story right for CM, so this has no chance

I still want this to be good but as Gloria said it does not really fit with her dying on earth although she could still know about them.

No, no-one knew anything about the Aliens till Aliens, people at Weyland Yutani knew about the beacon on the planet, but that was it, for her to find out about it, go off and investigate it, encounter the Aliens then go home and then live a long full life without telling anyone is stretching things just a little bit too far.

Burke (via Weyland Yutani) said that Ripleys daughter had died of old age on Earth. He was an honest soul wasn't he!! lol

I thought they did know about them as that was the whole point of sending the android to get them. The doctor is right they could have just lied and shown her a picture of a random old women he'll that's more believable than them bringing hicks back into it's the gameplay trailer looks good but will wait and see we have been here before.

end of the day she shouldn't of put that peanut where she did...

They knew there was something there ZF, they didn't know what exactly, otherwise Ash would have been better prepared. And yes, Burke wasn't a picture of honesty, but what would have been the point about lying about that if the truth was that she had gone missing in deep space 40 years ago, both equally hopeless situations for seeing her again. plus if they had known about the Aliens prior to finding Ripley why didn't they send the colonists to investigate sooner?

This is what happens when people buy crap like this. We get more. For what it was, Aliens actually did sell very well in the first few weeks unfortunately.

Colonial Marines wasn't that bad, the main problem with it was that it was hyped up beyond belief and was always going to be a disappointment because of it.

Well this will most likely be crap, I mean Creative Assembly have been on a downward spiral lately.

Just noticed but what is "Offline Co-op 1"? How can you engage jolly cooperation with only one person?
