Rockstar threatens to ban GTA V Online cheaters

Rockstar is threatening to ban people who cheat at GTA V Online.

Apparently cheaters are swamping bringing illegally-gained funds into the online mode and according to the publisher "disrupting the experience."

"We will continue to issue title updates on an ongoing basis to counter the negative impact this has had on gameplay, and as part of today's maintenance period, we are removing the counterfeit GTA$ from the game's economy," said Rockstar in a statement sent to us today.

"Anyone who innocently received GTA$ as a result of these exploits but did not engage in cheating to acquire it will not face any further action - the funds will just be removed, and you'll be able to keep any items you currently own.

"Anyone found to have generated the fake cash through exploits will be subject to in-game penalties at our discretion", Rockstar concluded.

Rockstar is obviously keen to get rid of any ill-gotten funds so that people continue to spend real cash in-game on microtransactions and to keep the games economy from breaking.

its because a lot of people cant afford these micro transactions to stay ahead of the game, i personally hate micro transactions but they are within their rights to ban people if they are cheating.

I find it quite ironic that a game, where the main aim of the story was to pull of heists and ultimately steal money, are threatening to ban people for illegally-gaining funds.
