There we were, getting all excited for Crackdown 3 and Microsoft go and announce they have bought Gears of War. But one question remains, why did Ruffian tweet that it's a good day for announcements? Well, we have the answer to that too.
Ruffian’s announced that it has teamed up with Square Enix to help push its new indie title – Game of Glens.
The game is being released as part of a scheme, known as Collective. This sees Square Enix introduce indie titles to gamers in an effort to get the games funded. There's no obligation for developers to sign with Square Enix after they get their titles funded but it'll certainly help them get the word out there.
Ruffian is creating a title called Game of Glens, while other partners such are Kitfox are working on a game called Moon Hunters, while Tuque Games is building World War Machine.
"There are lots of really talented small teams around the world with great game ideas. For those teams, getting visibility, momentum, funding and distribution can be very tricky and that’s where we hope Collective can help," Collective project lead Phil Elliott said.
“It’s up to the teams how much or little help they want from Square Enix and it’s our opportunity to help some fantastic games become a reality and uncover the development stars of the future.”
Oh well, so much for Crackdown 3.
