Rate the Rumour: Xbox One rumours surface, provide details on new SKU's, firmware and more

It seems plenty of Xbox related rumours kicked off on NeoGaf last night when we were asleep, rumours which were back up by those over at The Verge.

According to rumours, a new white Xbox One with a 1TB hard drive is expected this year and it could even be disc-less. Sources from both sites agreed that Microsoft has been looking into a disc-free version of the console which would come with a Bluetooth adapter.

In addition to the above, there are also rumours of a Titanfall branded Xbox One, and although the picture below looks genuine enough, we are assured that it is indeed a mock-up. Still, enough people seem convinced that a Titanfall branded console is on the way to make this worth considering.

On firmware side, rumours suggest that a major Xbox One dashboard update is on the way. The update will address various Xbox Live issues, including party-chat and social features. It’s expected in March.

Finally, the same sources say that Xbox One is coming to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Colombia, Chile and Argentina in April, with China, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Saudia Arabia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Israel, India, Indonesia and Egypt to follow in October.

Think the above is legitimate? Well here's a list of everything the source on NeoGaf said last night. None of this can be verified of course and therefore should be treated as rumour.

- Forza Horizon: "Fall 2014, probably September. Super sexy weather system and... shit tons of co-op/social stuff. 1080P and open-world, so you can road trip with your bros."
- White Xbone incoming.
- Halo Anniversary 2 will be 1080p, iffy on the 60fps, maybe not.
- Quantum Break is Holiday 2014
- Multiplayer confirmed for Halo Anniversary 2, same devs as Halo Anniversary.
- Sunset Overdrive is Fall 2014
- Black Tusk cancelled project was called "Shangheist." May have involved stealing stuff from the Chinese
- Fable Legends is Summer 2015
- Halo 2 Anniversary includes beta for Halo 5 (as well as Xbox One ports of Halo 3 & 4)
- Gears of War will probably need a 2.5 year dev time.
- First Titanfall DLC is 45 days from release, then another one 120 days from release.
- No Crackdown 3 news this year most likely, since it's a 2016 title.
- $399 XB1 this year? "Maybe one without an Optical Disc Drive."

Microsoft has not provided a comment on any of the rumours.

I really hope there is a firmware update before March because not having a controller charge indicator, storage management, Windows Media Center/PC streaming support (which would allow for custom soundtracks in games, something the console currently lacks) and even Dolby Digital 5.1 over optical is just ridiculous in a console that claims to be an entertainment hub. These are all things the Xbox 360 launched with back in December 2005!!! I'm honestly beginning to regret having bought my Xbox One at launch as the whole platform feels decidely unfinished in my opinion. Even the interface is horribly sluggish and slow because everything loads as an app and don't even get me started on Kinect (it fails to recognise voice-commands 80% of the time and has no must-have games that use it or show it off to any degree plus hand navigation with it is horrendously laggy - Microsoft should have dumped it and ramped up the console's hardware specs in my view).

2 - Disc less Xbox is unlikely, since Microsoft had the idea before E3, but after E3 they decided not to do it, because of Negative PR

I would pretty much expect a bigger HDD on the way. I have already reached maximum on my 500gb in no time at all, pretty aggravated about that as I don't want to keep downloading games I delete just because I want to play them again. Guess I will have to make do with external storage.... Whenever that comes out. All in all Microsoft seriously need to pull their finger out and get to grips with this machine! Banking just on Titanfall isn't enough.

Apart from the diskless Xbone they all sound pretty likely, reckon they will release one without Kinect before they ditch disks.

I hope the update does come out soon as its a lot of hassle jumping from one game to another while staying in the same party. They all seem possible apart from the diskless version.

But they are adding in support for external hard drives to be used which I prefer over having to change the internal one but it would still be nice to have the option.
