It seems like Disney Infinity may be getting some "new versions" featuring both Marvel and Star Wars characters.
Sources at WSJ claim that both are currently in development, which will no doubt follow a similar path, i.e themed playsets based on the characters. From what's been said, it seems like these will be separate from the current game, rather than being an expansion, although there is no way of knowing until more information is released.
In more disappointing news, it's being said that the developer is preparing to “lay off several hundred people” at Disney Interactive, which employs about 3,000 staff.
The cuts are expected to begin after Wednesday, with Disney owned casual developer Playdom expected to be among the hardest hit. Disney acquired Playdom in 2010 for $563 million, although it's not really seen too much in return.
