Titanfall has gone gold. This means that with the exception of the Xbox 360 version, you'll be able to play the game in just a few short weeks.
Working for a retailer I probably shouldn't have any reservations about the game (I appear to be the only journalist on the internet who does), however I'm not a very good critic if I don't see the whole picture, and if one thing worries me it's that with just a few short weeks until release, other than what's rumoured, we know next to nothing about what will be included within this game. Maybe it's just me, but when a game is online only, it'd be nice to know what's included to make up for the lack of a single player experience.
I'm sure it'll all work out fine. Indeed you'll find out in our review if we manage to publish it before release (that'll depend on when/if we receive our code). In either case, Titanfall will sell, you can tell that alone by the fact that it's constantly riding high in our and other retailers pre-order chart. In fact given all the hype, people would probably still buy it even if it was an empty box.
One thing is for sure, what I played of the beta was extreme fun, my only worry is that the fun will be short lived if there is not enough content included within the game. Hopefully when the marketing drive to shift this game really kicks in we will find out more.
Until then, what do you think? Will you buy Titanfall no matter what?
