Titanfall patched ahead of launch

Respawn has released a new patch for Titanfall on Xbox One and PC to help coped with the demand on the servers during launch week.

The patch is around 380MB.

Meanwhile, Respawn’s lead engineer Richard Baker has explained why the PC install size is almost double that of the Xbox One version.

“We have audio we either download or install from the disc, then we uncompress it,” he Eurogamer. “We probably could have had audio decompress off disc but we were a little worried about min spec and the fact that a two-core machine would dedicate a huge chunk of one core to just decompressing audio.

“So… it’s almost all audio… On a higher PC it wouldn’t be an issue. On a medium or moderate PC, it wouldn’t be an issue, it’s that on a two-core [machine] with where our min spec is, we couldn’t dedicate those resources to audio.”

What do you think of the above?

Titanfall is out this week. Our review will be live in the next couple of days. In the meantime you can pre-order below.

I was one of the lucky few to get a copy in the UK today. After installing it did take me about 15 minutes to get into a game, once in it was absolutely brilliant, very smooth. I went back on about an hour ago and connected first time so it looks like they are keeping on top of the issues. I'm a bit disappointed that yet another MP game encounters first day issues but I'm sure most of us are use to it now :-/ .. I played through the online campaign with a friend, brilliant but VERY short. MP though is just incredible, if you enjoyed the beta then people are in for a real treat, I've not had this sort of "wow" factor in many many years.

Downloaded this early today on demand for £37 from the american Xbox live store and i have had zero problems, i still dislike the grunts but i really enjoy throwing emp grenades at enemy titans and just spraying my sidewinder into em until they blow up, also really enjoy having my titan follow me around the map while its distracting the enemy i just kill em with my carbine, i enjoyed the beta more then i though i would of and i'm glad i got the full game on demand for £37 and 3 days ahead of UK release.
