Japanese Charts, March 10 - 16: Dark Souls 2 rules them all

This week's Japanese charts are in and yet again there isn't too much to shout about, well unless you are Namco and Dark Souls II, which has a pretty stunning debut at number one with 255,197 units sold.

Elsewhere sales are a little depressing really, especially in the hardware charts where nothing shines, especially the brand new PS4, which only managed to sell just under 30,000 units for the week.

So a bit of a depressing week in Japan then.

Here's what there is to see.

The main Japanese market just don't want new home consoles. Japan has always been & always will be Potable market

Soon as Deep Down and the likes are out, PS4'll pick up. And Japan hasn't 'always' been a handheld market. PS2 sold 24m there.

"Japan has always been & always will be Potable market" - Key words 'always been'. Only the Gameboy and the Gameboy Color combined could compete with PS2 Japanese sales.

Weren't the Gameboy and the Gameboy Color the same thing? Never had the original Gameboy

No. One could play certain games and one couldn't. One was a bulky ugly looking thing, the other was nice and thin. One needed an external light to play in the dark, the other was quite fine. They are like the DS and the 3DS.

Then my bad I should of added "Ever since the PSP was released" since that is when Portable Multiplayer gaming really took off. (Ala: Monster Hunter)
