Microsoft won't allow cross-play with PC, but that may change, says War Thunder dev

War Thunder developer, Gaijin Entertainment has confirmed that Microsoft will not allow cross-play with PC.

“Microsoft is not allowing cross-play completely; which means [War Thunder] cannot be on Xbox One,” Gaijin CEO Anton Yudintsev told Gamespot recently.

The reason Microsoft refuses to allow cross-play is in order for it to certify severs to ensure a “good experience” for all players and unfortunately this rule means that War Thunder will have to skip Xbox One for now, although Yudintsev seems to think Microsoft understands where the developer is coming from.

“[Microsoft] has to change and they will change. The key is that they understand the necessity of change, so they will,” hinted Yuintsev.

“We’ll see. I hope we will be [on Xbox One] some day as well. I have nothing against the platform itself especially because I’m not one of those guys who worries about which is better [Xbox One or PS4]. I don’t care. It’s just the hardware. At the end of the day it’s only about the quality of the game and the gameplay experience.”

War Thunder is currently only available on PS4 in Europe. The PS4 version will support cross-play with PC sometime in April.

I'm not bothered about the actual game, I struggled to get into it on PS4 but for me I'm really not fussed about "Cross Platform" play. There was an article about it on Console Monster recently and they said it could end up being more trouble than it's worth. Mind you, imagine in future ( I know it would never happen ) if XB1 and PS4 gamers could play together, their bad enough on sites like GAF, IGN when they argue with each other, imagine them online "talking" to one another lol
