Ubisoft will continue to support PS3 and Xbox 360 for 'years'

Ubisoft has said that it'll continue to support both the PS3 and Xbox 360 for years to come.

This news comes after the company revealed Assassin's Creed: Unity, which doesn't support the aforementioned consoles.

"We will have games for PS3 and 360 for this year and probably the years after," Ubisoft vice president of creative, Lionel Raynaud, told Edge.

"We want to be able to provide games to people who are playing on these consoles. Black Flag was the first Assassin's Creed game of this new generation but it was designed with that in mind, but I wouldn't say it was a cross-generation game, as it has features that could only be for this generation."

It's rumoured that a new Assassin's Creed game, known as Comet, will release for Xbox 360 and PS3. The game is rumoured to be set in North America.

Assassin's Creed: Unity will release 'holiday 2014' for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

@JoeToots You will like it a lot once you play it a little bit more. I ended up spending more time at the sea, plundering ships than playing the story. I liked the story as well. I played the game in the same time period while watching Black Sails, so... it was interesting because there are characters in Black Flag that also appear in Black Sails (there are real-life pirates from that era)

Good to hear, but I take it from this that they're more or less dropping the Wii U from future plans after Watchdogs? Assuming the Wii U version of that isn't canned obviously...
