Your Podcast Questions - Episode 21

After a short break, it's almost time for episode 21 of the ShopTo podcast, so do you have any questions?

This week we'll be discussing why publishers seem to be porting games to new consoles from the previous consoles and whether this is a good or bad thing. We'll also be talking of console exclusives and timed exclusive deals.

We'll also have some other subjects to talk about, although we'd love it if you could tell us what you'd like us to discuss. Also if you have any questions then we'd love to try and answer them.

As always, this is your podcast, so if you have any suggestions for the format or anything else then please let us know below.

This whole remastered thinf is just hideous .Charging full price to everyone for TLOU is a disgrace .This for me should be the same as the upgrade titles from other companies.I got it on PS3 purely because the promised under no circumstances would it come to next gen .Now i know there all full of shit when it comes to making money etc ,but as theres no option to upgrade for people who have the PS3 disc is outright greed .

its down to the shops to offer an upgrade, game are offering an upgrade option where you will get more on trade than usual if exchanging for the remastered edition, as as its been said many times the price is a placeholder price and will most likely come down nearer the time when naughty dog announce the price

its always the same, when tomb raider remastered was announced everyone said exactly the same but the price came down a little and it sold very well, so will TLOU no matter what anyone says its

It seems that the PS4 is doing more ports at the moment as i can only think of tomb raider on the xbox one. The only game id consider to buy on an xbox one port would be GTA5 as I never got to complete it on the 360.

Technically the Xbone version of Call of Duty Ghosts is a port as well since the PS4 is the lead platform

Ghosts was not a last gen game re-released to next gen which this article is asking, so still does not count. As far as I am concerned Xbox ONE is the leading console for Ghosts as that was the first thing I saw when the console was initially showcased. Porting games from last gen to next gen is poor performance, especially at this stage, as new consoles need new games to get people interested. Even the Wii U is guilty of it with Wind Waker, when Nintendo should have focussed on a new Zelda game, but TLOU is just ridiculous, it was not long ago released on PS3. The devs seem to have run out of ideas and the PS4 and Xbox ONE seem like they will never take off, and anybody who has not got either, should not bother until there are new games. At least the Xbox ONE still has more variety.

*Facepalm* Technically it was a re-release since the first release date was 5th of November and the second release or the Re-release (since it was the second time being released) was 15th of November

"As far as I am concerned Xbox ONE is the leading console for Ghosts" That still doesn't change fact that the PS4 was the lead platform and that anything else is releases on is a port of that version

Lastly: While I agree that is is too soon to port TLOU to the PS4 (Apparently they started work on it right after the release) comparing it the Wind Waker, a game released in 2002 isn't the same thing

Ghosts was developed for all consoles at the same time, it only had different release dates because the consoles were not released. If the consoles were released before November then the game would have launched on PS4 and Xbox ONE the same time as the others. TLOU was mainly developed just for PS3. Xbox ONE was still leading console because it secured the DLC first on Xbox ONE

Well it seems you can't read between the lines. I was twisting your words when I said the Xbone & PS4 versions were re-releases. Also even if a game is developed for all consoles at the same time, it will still have a lead platform. Example: Just Cause 2: X360 (I think), Metal Gear Revengence: PS3, Dark Souls 2:PC

Fifas lead console is xbox just though I'd throw that one in the mix (I think)
