Microsoft financial quarter results show 1.2 million Xbox One consoles sold to retail

Microsoft has released it's quarterly financial results, seeing it generate $20.4 billion for Q3 FY13 ended March 31, 2014 with net income coming in at $5.66 billion.

The part we are interested in is the Devices and Consumer Hardware sector, in which Xbox consoles reported $1.97 million in revenue for Q3 and $8.19 million for the nine months ending on March 31.

Overall the division saw a 12% increase to $8.30 billion with 2 million Xbox console units, including 1.2 million Xbox One consoles sold-in to retailers between January and the end of March. Microsoft previously revealed that it has sold-in over 5 million consoles to retail, so this information ties in with the previous announcement.

Currently sales of Microsoft's Xbox One are thought to stand at around 4.2 million sold to consumer.

Financial results from other companies, including EA and Sony are expected throughout the next couple of weeks. EA's should certainly be interesting as it'll give an idea of just how well Titanfall from Respawn has sold.
