Rate the Rumour: Nintendo set to reveal new hardware at E3? *update*

Update: As a follow up to this rumour, Nintendo has issued a statement saying the following:

"We definitely aren't announcing hardware at this years E3."

You can't get much clearer than that.

Original: There are a few rumours going around this morning that Nintendo are getting set to reveal new hardware at this year's E3.

IGN cites “multiple people” for claims Nintendo is “absolutely” going to show new hardware.

Sources seem to include a former Nintendo employee and a third-party informant, although the site doesn't seem to know what will be revealed.

After Nintendo merged its portable and home console teams rumours have been going around regarding a Fusion DS and Fusion Terminal, which we are guessing could be a hybrid console which allows you to play both portably and at home.

Of course new hardware could mean anything, such as a new Wii U or a new 3DS SKU or even an add on peripheral.

Nintendo does not comment on rumour and speculation but we'll find out if this is all true come E3.

No chance. No press conference means no major announcements. New hardware is a major announcement...

No press conference means no major announcements? PS4 and Xbone were announced by videos.

I always though you're somewhat unadequate, Gloria. Now I know it for sure. PS4 was announced in 2.5 hour press conference in Feb'13. Xbone conference was in May'13. Those were real events, what "videos" you're talking about??? O_o

Unadequate isn't a word.

4 - I would expect them to give us something new as their hardware sales are abysmal and their games are stale without fresh IP's

Yeah this wasnt going to happen. If Nintendo abandoned the Wii U after two years... I for one wouldnt buy their next console. How can I trust a company who will abandon their console after 2 years if it doesnt go the way they want it to? Running from your problems doesnt solve anything.

Anyone expecting a new console will be sorely disappointed, a revision however could be possible, perhaps a slimmer Gamepad or yet another 3DS revision; maybe even something relating to QOL - Quality of Life - software that Nintendo seems keen to promote for the future.
