Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire announced for 3DS

The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have announced that Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire are coming to 3DS.

Both titles were released on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, introducing 137 new Pokémon and featuring double battles and Pokémon abilities for the first time.

"Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are a fresh take on Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, which launched in 2003 and were fan-favourite hits on the Game Boy Advance system," reads a statement from The Pokémon Company.

"The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world."

You can pre-order below.

Annnnnnnd pre-ordered, both versions. Thanks to ShopTo for putting the details up on site in such a speedy manner, these were only announced mere hours ago so it's good to be able to pre-order both of these titles on the day they were announced; E3 will certainly be an interesting time this year. In any case, it's nice to see that we are finally getting these remakes, the timing was just right it seems so it had to happen eventually.

as soon as i found out that these were coming i pre-ordered both and i can't wait for both of these games to be made. I enjoyed sapphire and ruby when the were out for the gameboy advance and i look forward to playing these games again. Hopefully you can integrate the Pokemon from Pokemon X and Pokemon Y to build up the Pokemon experience and hopefully Pokemon bank will allow them to be transferred to and from each over :)

Pre ordered both straight away. Well done on the speed of getting this up Shopto, as far as I can see no other retailer has it up yet. Of course I hope the price comes down a bit as we get closer to release ;)

I wonder if they will add some new mega evolutions to this. Either way at least I can get my Kyogre again.

Be interesting to see some gameplay come out of the nintendo direct at e3, Apparently it is a complete remake not just a touch up.

I hope it looks just like X and Y. Also hoping the other starters get mega evolutions seeing as Torchic already has one.

The Pokemon remakes have always been complete remakes though. If you mean that it is going to be in the X&Y engine then you are correct

Yeah I saw a brief trailer of them showing Kyogre and Groudon and it is the X&Y engine which is nice. Didnt really think about it before but the cover ones are different from in game so looks like they are getting mega evolutions which is cool.
