A controversial topic now the ps4 and xbox 1 have been out a while what do you think is the best platform so far and who do you see leading in the future
Dark572Assassin 3 months ago
Why haven't you added wii-U to the question dark-assassin as that's the same generation as ps4 and xbone
JoeToots 3 months ago
my bad lol yeah forgot to add that sure its a topic that could last forever
Dark572Assassin 3 months ago
Personally thought there was nothing wrong with the question in the 1st place, it doesn't rule out the Wii U from the topic, it just mentions that the PS4 and XB1 have probably been out long enough now for a valid discussion on the matter
RTLF 3 months ago
Having listened to the podcast for some time though i know for a fact that one of them (don't know which) will perk up with the Wii-U so it just covers all angles.

"Why haven't you added wii-U to the question dark-assassin as that's the same generation as ps4 and xbone" - Presumably because his question was regarding the future :)

The Xbox and the PS4 won't have the same growth as the X360 & PS3 did since they are just glorified PC's but the WiiU could have that same kind of growth if developers give it a chance. (PS4 will always have an advantage due to GDDR5)
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
"Growth" in what sense exactly?
PrometheusFan 3 months ago
Look at X360 & PS3 games on launch & look at X360 & PS3 games now. The Xbone & PS4 are already having developers max then out & you can't say that they just need to learn the hardware, they already know the hardware since the Xbone & PS4 are just glorified PC's
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
The main thing that draws me to the consoles are the different kind of experiences I can get there. Playstation has Japanese support, Microsoft have Kinect (Has potential but they aren't utilising it), Nintendo have Nintendo quality games that you can't find anywhere else
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
"The Xbone & PS4 are already having developers max then out & you can't say that they just need to learn the hardware, they already know the hardware since the Xbone & PS4 are just glorified PC's" - Setting aside the fact that you could easily label any console of the past couple of decades with that reductive logic, this is still a gross oversimplification of the hardware capabilities and potential for future optimisation of either of those machines. They are as much 'glorified PCs' as the Wii U is... or any disc based console ever come to that. And can I see a source as to where it's been established either of these machines has been "maxed out" already? I'd just like to be clear as to how this has been measured.
PrometheusFan 3 months ago
Serious question now? does anyone know if there is away you can block someone comments so you no longer see them?
JoeToots 3 months ago
Sadly no.
Gloria 3 months ago
CD Projekt have said that The Witcher 3 is close to maxing out the PS4 already. You couldn't label every console of the past couple of decades with that logic.1: They all had exclusive games that weren't on PC, 2: If the PC version did get released it was a shoddy crappy port, 3: The past console weren't glorified PC's since they weren't based of PC architecture
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
So developers had to spend to to learn them & that is why you saw an increase to the quality as time went on
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
i think i have started a hot topic today lol
Dark572Assassin 3 months ago
"1: They all had exclusive games that weren't on PC, 2: If the PC version did get released it was a shoddy crappy port, 3: The past console weren't glorified PC's since they weren't based of PC architecture " - I see nothing here that does not still ring true today, and while current consoles might mirror PC X86 architecture fairly closely, consoles have still always utilised modified PC components and designs, with a handful of exceptions (Cell processor, Emotion Engine, etc). Very little has changed here vs say... a decade ago far as I can tell.
PrometheusFan 3 months ago
No! Consoles before this generation have always run on air
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
Not just modified PC components, EXTREMLY! modified PC components. They are no way near the same as PC components
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
isn't the PS4 graphics card just a modified HD 7870? PC MASTER RACE!
JoeToots 3 months ago
Bottom line is that the consoles shouldn't focus on power and should just focus on innovation and new experiences/ways to play. That is where the WiiU & the Xbone succeed and the PS4 (for the most part) fails. If you want power and better experiences go for a PC
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
how is the xbone innovation or a new way to play? Kinect was on the 360. PS4 would be more innovative in my mind with the share stuff, Cross Buy and remote play ( I know the Wii U has it but it is more powerful on vita/PS4)
Bindiana 3 months ago
" Bottom line is that the consoles shouldn't focus on power and should just focus on innovation and new experiences/ways to play. That is where the WiiU & the Xbone succeed and the PS4 (for the most part) fails. If you want power and better experiences go for a PC" - "Bu-bu-but PC!!!" again? You're trying way too hard. Neither Wii U nor Xbox One offer a single thing which could be called 'innovative' or 'new' in the console space. Kinect was around long before Xbox One existed and the Wii U gamepad is nothing more than remote play with more limitations. Beyond those things, what do either of these consoles bring to the table that's new? As Bindiana points out, the share button on the PS4 is the only feature between all three machines that would actually qualify as new or 'innovative' in any real way, because no console has actually had a feature like it before.
PrometheusFan 3 months ago
Kinect is a lot better than the 360 version (Beta test) & it could do some really cool stuff but it just hasn't been utilized as well as it deserves too
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
The share button isn't that special. Capture cards for consoles have been available for years and they are miles better
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
So you're essentially using the 'more powerful' argument for the Xbox One Kinect's case then? When more powerful hardware as a justification in and of itself is an argument you've basically rubbished at every turn? Oh, and which capture cards (Seperately available, unofficial hardware it's worth noting) can let me instantly replay and edit footage of something I've just done in a game on the fly that I can upload online at the literal touch of a button? It may have been doable in some form beforehand, but this is still the first time such features have been natively built into a console and that haven't required multiple pieces of external additional hardware to achieve.
PrometheusFan 3 months ago
there's no argument PC MASTER RACE
JoeToots 3 months ago
Nice one. I didn't word that Kinect comment as well as I should have, nice. Anyone that is serious about Editing and Uploading video is not going to use the PS4 Sharing thing, not one person
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
Not really wanting to get involved too much but the xbox one lets you record and edit gameplay with a voice command which is pretty cool. Though you cant take screenshots with it which is annoying.
Zombieflamingo 3 months ago
I was just about to say that, though I didn't know that you can't take a screenshot, what kind of shit it that?
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
Ha! This a a great read http://www.ricedigital.co.uk/nintendo-make-remarkable-new-discoveries-technology/
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
There might be a way but I have not found it yet though I have not really tried.
Zombieflamingo 3 months ago
"Anyone that is serious about Editing and Uploading video is not going to use the PS4 Sharing thing, not one person" - Oh? So someone can't just enjoy using these features if they aren't prepared to be "serious" about it? If that's what you're getting at that's an extremely elitist attitude... and all of a sudden the constant PC drivel makes sense :/
PrometheusFan 3 months ago
PC MASTER RACE!
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
How about recording it and taking a Screenshot when you transfer it to a PC? I know it is a round about method but better than nothing
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
My point was Kevin that PS Share isn't a selling point of the PS4 (or at least it shouldn't be) it's a feature that while nice and all, the majority of people will only have a passing interest in it. It isn't a selling point like what the Kinect could be
Loli-Nox-Tan 3 months ago
Well, I can't say as I agree there at all. the share functionality on the PS4 in all it's forms seems to be proving extremely popular so far. Livestreaming especially seems to have taken off in a big way. You need only look at how the PS4 camera has been selling (Far beyond all expectations apparently, with it being constantly being out of stock in some areas) for an indicator of this... because you can be sure as shit ain't no one is buying that camera for it's specific games, seeing as their pretty much aren't any. Also, I'm curious as to why you believe Kinect has the potential to sell the Xbox One when all indications thus far have been that the Xbox One has sold as well as it has in spite of the Kinect's forced inclusion, rather than because of it. Kinect specific games on the console so far (Chiefly Kinect Sports Rivals) have all been flops as well. So I'm just not seeing it.
PrometheusFan 3 months ago
The kinect has potential but I just have not seen anything yet that proves that. I do feel though that the xbox works well with it for the interface being able to jump to other sections is really responsive. I personally dont like live streaming on either I just dont like watching other people play games and my upload speed is terrible so I will not bother broadcasting. I dont like the position of the share button on the PS4 controller though It will take a while to get used to pushing the touchpad as the back/ select button.
Zombieflamingo 3 months ago
Steaming is considered new to the mainstream audience so that is one of the reasons that it is selling so much. I said the Kinect has potential and could be a selling point. Key word: Could
