Dyling Light delayed until 2015

Dead Island developer Techland has delayed its latest title, Dying Light, until early 2015.

A statement sent today states that the game just needs a little more time in order for the developer to realise its vision.

"We know you've been waiting on a Dying Light release date for quite some time now. After careful consideration, we have decided to release our upcoming game in February 2015," Techland explained.

"When we started the development of Dying Light, we were committed to innovation. We wanted to give you a freedom of movement unprecedented in open world games. After many improvements and months of hard work, we have now come so close to realising our initial vision we feel we cannot stop before it is ready.

"We believe the Natural Movement element of our game will change what you expect from the genre, and we don't want to sacrifice any of its potential by releasing too early. This quality-focused thinking underlines all our development choices and we hope you share our belief that the gameplay must always come first.

"The new date ensures that we can fully realize our vision of an innovative open world game. We won't need to make compromises or trade-offs on any of the five platforms we're working on. For you, it means an outstanding, original game that makes the wait more than worthwhile."

Dying Light will now release in February 2015 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Hopefuly it will give them time to make it look a little bit different from Dead Island. It looks nice just too much of the same just now.

As long as it's not as terrible as it was back at Eurogamer last year. :/

I just hope there is more of a difference between this and riptide and it looks good so far. I felt a bit let down by riptide I knew it was more of an expansion but it just felt a bit too short.

yeah the free running is a nice idea and how it gets more tough at night so you have to plan your trips out on quests not quite completed riptide yet i went back and plated dead island took about 40 hrs

The free running does look nice. Dead Island didnt really scale properly for single player I found the difficulty was the same no matter how many players you had. Is this single player only? Not seen anything about multiplayer. Have you seen much of the medieval one they are doing? It looks pretty good.

It definitely needs something unique. There's a lot of zombie games which are too much like each other nowadays.

I don't mind if a game is delayed in order to make it the best it can be. I really hate the people that complain for a game to be released and then bitch that it needs months of patching. Let the devs take their time and get it right first time
