Darksiders may live on *update*

Update: Nordic Games has issued a statement in relation to the speculation from our news story below.

"With regards to Darksiders 3: of course we've always been busy in the background, talking to a lot of former team members about a continuation of the series," the publisher told RPS, "but we are not ready to announce anything officially.

“We can and will not settle for second-best solutions in the case of Darksiders, however before we can say something about the 'how' and 'when' of publishing/financing the sequel is concerned, we are still busy in properly figuring out the 'who' part of this large-scale project," which while not giving anything away sounds pretty promising.

Hopefully we will find out more soon.

Original: Anyone who knows my thoughts on gaming knows that I love the Darksiders series, so I'm quite pleased to be writing the following story... Darksiders may live on.

Posting on his Facebook page, comic artist Joe Madureira had some interesting news about the series.

"Darksiders-- DS is not dead!!!," he says. "The new owner, Nordic seems very committed to continuing the series. As far as my involvement, I can't say at this point. Hopefully we will all have exciting news about the franchise soon!!!!!!"

That sounds promising to me and I can't wait to see how Darksiders III looks on the PS4/Xbox One.

Oh dear... no one cared the first time around, what makes them think anything will have changed now? Exceptionally mediocre series that was almost completely made up of ideas lifted from other games and brought nothing of it's own of worth to the table.

I really want to like darksiders, I've got both but neither really held my interest for long even though they should have done. I think there were just too many items and upgrades for me to get my head round

I couldn't be more hopeful of this series to continue. There are two other horseman. I love the games. The story, music & concepts are so needed.

I enjoyed both of them though I would say the first one was the better game though I did enjoy the loot in 2. Were they not planning on having a 4 player co-op one at some point I hope they still use the other horsemen.
